@[email protected] #Lemmy coping by relying (or: parasiting) on multiple other instances is not the win you think it is, unfortunately.

If your software can't scale up with increasing demand despite the many resources you put into it (which lemmy.world has surely?), then your software is shit and I don't want anything to do with it. Doesn't help that the software is made by a tankie whose primary motivation for developing Lemmy is a grudge against anarchists at #Raddle. It's a disaster at start and will remain a disaster at the end.

Yet another reason why I chose #Raddle over #Lemmy for hosting my #Touhou forum: reliability. You can often see lemmy.world (which has the largest Touhou community AFAIK at 132 subscribers and 96 submissions, vs https://raddle.me/f/touhou at 124 subscribers and 970 submissions) and lemmy.blahaj.zone (2nd largest 2hu with similar subscriber count but way less submissions) out of service. Might be due to too many users using at once, some server crash, idk.

Whatever the reason is, the Lemmy software being so heavy has to be a factor. I mean come on, it requires JavaScript ffs.

Raddle meanwhile is so lightweight (written primarily in an appropriate language like PHP like a sane web-facing service would, and DOESN'T require JS), and server reboots (and I only witnessed one in my entire 5 years on that site) take only seconds. Postmill is a champ!

Hello outside world! This is my first time actually exploring outside #Mastodon in the #Fediverse here in #Calckey. I won't tell you my Masto main here, so consider it as an exercise to the reader. If you found it, congratulations! Hopefully that was a good use of your spare time. :P

I am a huge #Touhou fan, and I hugely love Mima-sama, the resident evil spirit and troll of the Hakurei Shrine. I also am an enthusiast of the first five PC-98 games, and I like all its characters! So expect a lot of posting and renoting of PC-98 stuff I like. ;)

I also founded and manage the Touhou forum at #Raddle (https://raddle.me/f/touhou), an Old Reddit-like alternative established by anarchists and libertarian leftists. If you want an alternative place to r/touhou for your 2hu needs without the bigotry you might expect from other alternatives, please try my humble forum. Doesn't look like #kbin has a working API yet. Lemmy does but I'm obviously not going to support that.

I also thought about setting up a puppet bridge for #Raddle, which I've seen a few queer themed communities pop up on. For some reason though I feel like the Raddle staff would be very against third-party bridges or clients, and would be aggressive at blocking them, much like Reddit.

all of the quality subreddits are closing indefinetly, #traa is going to #raddle mostly, #196 is going to #tumblr, some mostly techy people or left-liberals are going to #lemmy

and even in places where people recommend moving to the #fediverse or tumblr, nobody is coming to the microblogging-fediverse...

even if the current mods of active subreddits adhere to the "indefinetly"–provided reddit doesn't back down–i doubt that the smaller communities gathered on other platforms will be more popular than some alternative subreddits that are manually moderated and let some spam through

...that is, unless all subs have an internally unified direction of exodus
