Dapper Doc and the Quantum
A pre-trip shave using the razor I had planned to take with me until I learned that TSA confiscates safety razors. It makes no difference whether razor contains a blade or not. They just don't like metal shaped like that. I might have tried one of my plastic slants, but why risk it?
Great shave in any case.

The Quantum razor is a modern version of the Eclipse Red Ring, and both are superb razors. I would rate Quantum as the better of the two.

The Quantum razor is a modern version of the Eclipse Red Ring, and both are superb razors. I would rate Quantum as the better of the two.

The Quantum DE razor, a modern update on the venerable Eclipse Red Ring, is truly a marvel.
It comes with two baseplates: the α and the Ω. The former takes a sterner attitude toward stubble, but both are comfortable.
I'm very much impressed by this razor. Here's my second shave, this time using the α baseplate.

Return of the Eclipse Red Ring
The Eclipse Red Ring is an excellent DE razor made in the 1920's and 30's and now hard to find. It's unusual in that its comb guard is reinforced by a bar attached to the back of the tips of the tines.
Phoenix Shaving has produced a Red Ring replica, and I tried it this morning. It is excellent. Here's my report:
