It's great. But the best #contribution is to share it to the #artist directly maybe through their own #website or something. But not everyone have those. Also some artists pay less for the #instrumentalists and other session #musicians and just outsource some mixing engineer and finally just hold the album name to #themselves and #publish. It is fine, but let's say I listen a song and find just the #drums super cool and I want #tip or contribute to the #drummer.

Now, I #write. Fiction. #ScienceFiction mainly. Although I've dabbled into other more mainstream fiction #genres too except fantasy & horror. Other than #Grammarly and #ProWritingAid I've never really used #AI for anything other than to help me sound less snarky when replying to Reddit comments. A look through my history here and you can see just how unfiltered I am about topics I care passionately and deeply about.

But I've never used AI to actually *#write* a #story, from start to finish. At least not until now.

And since I'm usually a *#pantser* when I write, I just started with a simple #prompt and a simple #premise.

And holy fuck. Holy-holy fuck.

I mean, the AI didn't write it all by itself. I had to prompt it, guide it. Even fix some glaring and stupid mistakes (AI really has no cognitive understanding of the real world right now.)

And of the 40,000+ words it's written just about every single paragraph needs to be #edited. Heavily in places too. The overuse of #em-dashes is real y'all. I use em-dashes, but I don't use them in every fucking paragraph!

But the foundation is there.

The premise is unique. The story is unique. The characters are unique. And they have a depth to them that frankly has blown my mind.

I am both incredibly excited and very scared for what comes next but only a fool would take something AI has created and #publish it without #editing whether it's a Reddit comment, an Email, a social network post, or a tome.

One of the world’s most cited scientists, Rafael Luque, suspended without pay for 13 years

Researchers are #evaluated by the #number of studies they #publish in #peer-#reviewed journals and by the number of times these papers are #cited by other colleagues.

The well-intentioned mechanism, however, has produced adverse effects, as explained by the British engineer Nick Wise, a researcher at Cambridge University who, in his spare time, seeks out fraud in science.

Wise has uncovered shady “#factories of scientific studies,” produced by #copying and #pasting other studies or by automatic #text #generators, and whose authorship is secretly #sold for hundreds or thousands of dollars to inflate resumes.

Yes, I get to travel, for the first time after maternity and a pandemic, to a nice place in a lovely country. Having strong and mixed feelings about it.

But as you may know, #academia is ruled by a "#publish or #perish" scheme, and publishing is *hard*. A conference like this (~150 attendees) has a core part + some workshops, but at the end of the day it is the core that counts for your research performance evaluations, and that had a 23.5% success rate this year.

It seems the industrialization of #science has not been great for #innovation, and maybe we ought to consider giving scientists more time, more #flexibility, more security, and more #resources to produce #consequential work, rather than let them do the #publish or #perish hamster wheel.
