Dzielnica protestancka najlepiej oddaje charakter dawnego Węgrowa. Dalej jest tam wiele drewnianych domów, kiedyś typowych dla miast wschodniej Polski. Niezwykle ciekawy jest stary kościół z XVII wieku. Kalwińska wspólnota miała wznieść budowlę w ciągu 1 doby. O dziwo dalej stoi, co świadczy o polskiej trwałości prowizorki 😉
Potem kościół trafił w ręce luteran i był parafią dla Warszawy aż do zbudowania kościoła św. Trójcy! To do Węgrowa jeździło się na ewangelickie śluby.
Na cmentarzu łatwo zauważyć kilka barokowych płyt nagrobnych. To pamiątki po szkockich prezbiterianach — uchodźcach z kraju z czasów wojen religijnych.
A przecież jest w Węgrowie jeszcze starsza historia arian z XVI wieku! To w tym mieścia miał umrzeć profesor chłopskiego pochodzenia — Piotr Giezka z Goniądza.
Także Węgrów zdaje się być mazowiecką stolicą protestantyzmu.

“Therefore, #confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed.” (James 5:16; ESV)

It seems that in spite of our high view of #scripture many #protestants simply ignore this verse. “I can just go to Jesus and be forgiven” is the common retort. And yet Scripture tells us to confess to one another and pray for the other’s healing from sin.

The #Anglican, #Catholic, and #Orthodox traditions are being more wholly faithful to Scripture when they encourage the faithful to go to #confession .

We recently finished the series #DerryGirls, and my hubby found a podcast from Telegraph which tells the awful truth of why #IrishCatholics were so pissed off at #Protestants in #NorthernIreland. Housing and employment #discrimination, harrassment, lack of #VotingRights, etc. Did you know that only if you owned property you could vote, and business owners could vote twice! While Orthodox-majority countries use the Gregorian calendar for civil purposes, many still use the #JulianCalendar for religious purposes. You have probably heard about #UkrainianRefugees celebrating #Easter and #Christmas on different dates to those of #Catholics and #Protestants; this is because the Ukrainian Orthodox Church still uses the Julian Calendar (for now).

@realcaseyrollins wrong as usual ;-) #Christian dogma is all based on #Catholic #Traditition. #Protestants, particularly the #baptists #evangelicals and so-called non-denominational Christians, have just watered down Christian thelogoy to make it more pallitable. Regardless all of those Christians have a lot to offer the faith. For the most part Catholics have as much to learn from Evangelicals as vice versa. Learn from all. If you seek the truth, the #chruch will show up
