Seit ein paar Tagen ist meine Internetverbindung am Mac schnarchlangsam. So langsam, dass ich denke, hier telefoniert etwas massiv nach Hause. Downloads brechen andauernd ab.

Nach 2 Tagen intensivem Lauschens ohne jede Auffälligkeit stellt sich raus: Seit dem letzten #MacOS-Update ist #Apple #PrivateRelay die Bremse.

Ich bin mir inzwischen ziemlich sicher, dass das Problem mit #NextDNS und Apple #PrivateRelay am #IPv6 der Mobilfunkanbieter liegt.

Mit #IPv4 geht es ohne Probleme und IPv6 geht mit und ohne Private Relay nicht.

Also entweder eine Änderung in #iOS26 in Bezug auf #Mobilfunk und IPv6, oder NextDNS hat mit IPv6 im Mobilfunk ein Problem.

Upgraded the #macos to #sequoia as the system suggested... and it switched on #privaterelay automatically. Should there not be a law against upgrades changing settings automatically? Imagine updating #nixos and it changes your settings beyond what is in the flake or configuration file? Never. Then tried finding the location of this setting in the totally flat menu system. No chance. We little people need AI to fight the complexity of this guff. I need an #AI tool trained to fight for me.

Seit dem Update auf #iOS/#iPadOS 18.2 hatte ich Probleme mit #AppleMail, dass E-Mails nicht mehr korrekt abgerufen werden konnten. Nach einigem Rumprobieren stellte sich nun heraus, dass es wohl an Kombination aus #PiHole und #Apple #PrivateRelay lag. Wer ähnliche Probleme haben sollte, kann mal folgendes ausprobieren:

Apple iCloud #PrivateRelay and Wise.com don’t play nice with each other. #Wise email verifications fail miserably when trying to auth the app.
Turning off Private Relay for a couple of minutes bypasses the error.

iCloud Private Relay must be having issues. Just have to shut it off to get network access again.

Ich habe in der Fritz!Box #Mullvad DNS Server und DoT aktiviert.
Jede Nacht beginnen Meldungen, dass die DoT Server nicht abgefragt werden können.

Unter #iOS18.1 sind die Geräte offline. Unter #iOS17.X nicht. Auf den Geräten ist #NextDNS und #PrivateRelay aktiv.

Hatte jemand schon mal sowas? Bin ratlos.

Zumal die selbe Config vorher mit DNS Servern von NextDNS in der Box lief

Internet Connect was broken this morning in the neighborhood for some minutes.
After connection was back I could not reach sites via macOS and also iOS. Via Firefox and curl everything was fine…
Disabling and enabling private relay didn't help....

Is anyone using #iCloud #PrivateRelay?
Works pretty well for Safari at least.

You can even choose to just use same country and timezone instead of general location... So no cross country „VPN“ but yeah. Also relays IPv6 btw.

We need to normalise use of #e2ee #vpn and #PrivateRelay as much as possible.

Here we can be helped by Big Tech, since WhatsApp is doing a great job of normalising #e2ee and Apple #PrivateRelay. But no Big Tech has an interest in VPNs.

Ara que hi penso, fa moltes setmanes que vaig activar la #TramesaPrivada tant a #iOS com a #MacOS i m'havia oblidat totalment que ho estava provant 😂
Bona senyal! funciona de maravella perquè no tinc cap problema ni de velocitat al navegar ni de bloquejos al #PrivateRelay de #Apple per part dels webmàsters.

Provant la #TramesaPrivada (#PrivateRelay) de #Apple:
- navegació igual de fluida
- només funciona amb el navegador #Safari
- per ara no he trobat cap pàgina web que no funcioni
- des de #iOS, tant si navego amb dades mòbils com si ho faig amb wifi la IP pública és la del Private Relay de Apple i no pas la del meu proveïdor d'internet.
- cada vegada que connecto a internet la IP pública que m'assigna el Private Relay és diferent
- la sessió activa a mastodont.cat és IP pública del tipus IPv6

Also #iCloud #PrivateRelay Beta! läuft bei mir besser wie jedes bisher getestete #VPN Gedöns. Hinzu kommt noch das die #Apple Lösung dann auch noch ein Hauch von #Tor aufweist, nur in Schnell halt.
