Prime Day sales have always been underwhelming overall. I did have things in my cart I was already planning on buying. Two dropped in price by a couple dollars, so waiting helped a little.

If you partake in the sale I strongly suggest using https://camelcamelcamel.com/ to view the price history of every item. Make sure it didn't go up and then "drop" to the usual price.

There is a browser extension for CCC but I prefer checking manually. Less privacy concerns.

Sounds like there's some kind of #protest going on around #Amazon headquarters in #Seattle. My best guess is a targeted protest to coincide with #PrimeDay2024, but I don't have much other information.

Some background on the whole Amazon Prime thing, for those interested on how this works typically.

First, it took a lot of time to scour the spreadsheet Amazon sent out to their 'premier content creators' about 3 weeks ago (I dunno if every affiliate link holder got it or not, but Amazon tries to make you feel exclusive in their verbage, when you get the email). Scour it for coffee and espresso deals worthy of writing about.

It's a MASSIVE spreadsheet - so much so, that my 16gb / 512gb M2 mac struggled to open it in Numbers. Working within it was almost impossible, so I had to isolate on "hot beverages" category, and export all those rows (about 900 rows) out to another spreadsheet file.

Once that was done, I went over them, one by one to find the best deals on the best brands. Lots and lots of chaff mixed in with tiny bits of savoury wheat. That took an entire evening. There are a LOT of weirdly named, crap coffee products on Amazon.

Even with the list down to 900 or so rows of spreadsheet content, the info was so dense (over 30 columns of data), it was hard to tell which were Day 1 sales, and which were Day 2 sales. Got that figured out.

Seeing Technivorm in there was the kicker - 30% off, and even deeper discounts for prime members. A $350 auto drip coffee maker with a total cult following, for $227? Yup.

Also, several Breville products they don't put on sale (the grind control auto drip brewer, for example) raised my eyebrows. And two Fellow Products? They never put stuff on sale! But lo and behold, two different Stagg EKG kettles were going to be on offer.

So I went to work. Isolated in on a few dozen products I thought were worthy of trumpeting out. I also knew all my hard work would mean other websites in coffee with an Amazon affiliate link would just have to take my work, once published, and very quickly build their own Prime Day listing page.

C'est la vie.

I also had to keep all this info confidential. I knew some folks were shopping for the Barista Express, or Barista Touch, and I couldn't tell them wait - they're going on a huge sale! That sucks a bit.

But I got the page built and set to publish at 1am this morning... got that done about a week ago. About, I dunno, 12 hours total went into researching and building that feature page we published early this morning?

Then my contact at MHW-3Bomber emails and says "we've decided to join the Prime Day sales. Make sure you list us!".

Oy vay!

And then my contact at Timemore basically does the same thing. Yoiks.

As late comers to the party, and frankly, because I was just too exhausted with the page build and research, I added them, and a few others, to the bottom of the Prime Day feature on CoffeeGeek.

More might surface.

So that's what goes on into a feature like this, on CoffeeGeek. Meanwhile, the cynic in me expects to find some copycats of my researched content by the end of today.
