  1. Ordered the wrong caps it seems. But with the few i've replaced it doesn't seem to fix it anyhow. I guess something else died in the process. Does anyone know if the schematic is available?

  6. The 5300CS seems to have a some serious issues. When i enable my psu the voltage drops to 6v-ish and more then 2A. Seems it has some kind of short. And no idea where to start. Anyone experience with repairing a Powerbook 5300cs ?

  11. PowerBook #2, the 5300cs has some battery leakage. But not damaged. And signs that someone had been in it before.

  16. Powermac 165 seems to be working. At least it shows a boot screen, trackball does not work, SCSI drive doesn't work. And no Mac boot floppies in hand to test the diskdrive. It's a good start I guess. Oh battery is dead. But no obvious damage to the motherboard

  21. Got some old powerbooks from a colleague. They might need some love. At least one has a leaky battery. Should be a fun exercise to get the working

  26. Apples support for iPods is incredible. This #iPod mini (128GB upgraded) released in early 2005. It's support ranges from #OSX 10.2 Jaguar up until today with MacOS.

And it syncs and plays modern format like Apple Lossless (ALAC) and AAC 320kbit on it's original firmware. Though the Apple Music app on modern #MacOS seems to lack the feature to remove songs so I used the #Powerbook for music management via #iTunes instead.

  31. right so i got the PowerBook G4. problem is that the 4 key is extremely sensitive and was actually firing repeatedly. i took the 4 key off and it stopped. the slightest touch of the rubber dome thing makes it fire the 4 key. any ideas on how to fix it?

please boost this post, i don't want to use it without a proper 4 key!

  36. Oh, hello old friend.
This was my first Mac computer, given to me by a friend in the early 2000s. At some point I stripped the paint of the front and exposed the raw titanium. I may have also slid a green filter between the backlight and Apple logo. I replaced at least one hinge.
Later it was relegated to running a max/MSP patch that was controlling a lighting installation I did in a very long hallway in my first NYC apartment.

  41. After some searching I found one of my old #iPods. The 3rd gen iPod nano. Could not find my older 4th gen iPod (ClickWheel).

I could load new music from my Mac Studio with MacOS Tahoe directly to the iPod with the #apple music app and then manage the library on #iTunes on #OSX 10.5 Leopard on my 12" #Powerbook G4

With a bad battery and even worse display I loaded up the #iPod with some #PowerMetal and headed out on a sunday walk.
