A few impressions of the #repair of my #Apple #PowerBook100 with lots of leaky caps. I had to open the HDD, too, to free the heads that were stuck in parking position. But now it boots again. I have to take a closer look at the LCD, though, the contrast is way too low and the potentiometer has no effect. Maybe the LA5316 is broken, or the leakage spread further than I noticed. I had to clean the side behind the caps in the picture, too. A replacement screen is no option, so I might have to abandon this project when I can't fix it. The #powersupply is beyond repair, and the battery is dead, too.

On my left is my dear old 1GHz #Powerbook #G4. The best machine i've ever owned. But it's been around and seen better days.
Bought an upgrade: 1.5GHz, 1.25GB of RAM and 2x the VRAM.
Though just a CD-RW instead of a my broken DVD Burner. And the display is so much brighter, and the keys feels brand new!Ordered an #msata to de adapter and disk just in case, but don't know if i want to use it.

@hp wow, well, I've got a little pile of floppy disks on my desk, like 30cm away from me 😅
I don't use them daily, I'm just messy and leave a lot of stuff everywhere 😅
The nearest one (the first of the pile) has a lot of handwritten stuff on it, but none reflecting its content. It's probably mac-formatted because I was repairing a #Powerbook 170 last time I used them. The second one, btw, is definitely something for my #amstrad #ppc640 because it has a piece of tape on the right hole to make it recognized as 720k, and the amstrad is the only 720k machine I've got around... -

I couldn't enjoy the last #marchintosh because I couldn't fix the #powerbook 170 in time, so I wanted to retrieve my #MacintoshLC that was in storage at my parent's. I got it yesterday and drove it to my home in #tuscany on my 1985 #fiat #panda 4x4, so at least it was a period-correct ride 😂
Unfortunately the box was a little wet and I spotted some condense inside, so it goes to the terrace for a little sun bath...
No corrosion inside, fortunately, and I was nice and removed the battery years ago. I'm relieved!

Again on the #powerbook 170: i'm trying to understand how the heck should I set the #bluescsi #termination #jumpers. The website http://dehij.hiddej.nl/ is offline. I could find it on the #waybackmachine , but it doesn't load...
BTW, I found a schematic on https://github.com/dehij/powerbook-bluescsi . That's the v2 schematic, but it seems very similar to the v1.1a I've got (they changed only some footprints, I believe). I see I can, using the jumpers, set the #SCSI #SCSI_IO pin to 5v, to ground or to #TERM_PWR (that's another SCSI pin). I unerstand I should terminate the bus, as there's no other devices connected, but I really have no clue on how I should set those jumpers.... -

And it was kinda fast to boot and install too. My #Powerbook got some company now!.

Ordered some #ram for my #Apple #iBook #G3 #Clamshell . The clamshell has a single slot, but I found it was cheaper buying a 512Mb set (2x256Mb), so the other one will go into the #Powerbook #G3 #Wallstreet i have in storage at my parent's.

@ActionRetro Right now, I can't even get my #PowerBook G4 400 MHz #Mercury to start, even though it worked when I just bought it. I had it in storage for a couple months and decided to play with it again. Have done the usual, reset #PMU removed battery, let charge overnight. I'm planning to sell all my #PowerPC Apple laptops I have accumulated over the years because I sense they don't have much longer live.
