  6. Bought an #SSD Upgrade to the #Powerbook G4 12" 1.5GHz

    - chenyang mSATA Mini SATA SSD to IDE 44Pin
    - Transcend MSA230 128GB mSATA SSD

Opening up this computer takes some commitment. And while I was in there I also lubricated the CPU fan to fix some noise. Then booted the computer from an external #Firewire disk and restored the #Sorbert Leopard image.

  11. A few impressions of the #repair of my #Apple #PowerBook100 with lots of leaky caps. I had to open the HDD, too, to free the heads that were stuck in parking position. But now it boots again. I have to take a closer look at the LCD, though, the contrast is way too low and the potentiometer has no effect. Maybe the LA5316 is broken, or the leakage spread further than I noticed. I had to clean the side behind the caps in the picture, too. A replacement screen is no option, so I might have to abandon this project when I can't fix it. The #powersupply is beyond repair, and the battery is dead, too.

  16. Today I did something fun!

On my left is my dear old 1GHz #Powerbook #G4. The best machine i've ever owned. But it's been around and seen better days.

Bought an upgrade: 1.5GHz, 1.25GB of RAM and 2x the VRAM.
Though just a CD-RW instead of a my broken DVD Burner. And the display is so much brighter, and the keys feels brand new!

Ordered an #msata to de adapter and disk just in case, but don't know if i want to use it.

  21. @codemonkeymike The sad part of this too is most #Apple Macs post T2 might not be suitable collectors items because of this. I own a lot vintage era #PowerBook G4's and G3's and there were times where I might want to reinstall OS X. Doing that is next to impossible on devices like this. Not to mention, even pre-T2 machines, if you don't use them for a while they lock you out requiring resetting the password through recovery.

  22. One more for #MARCHintosh #macOS 9.1 running on #PowerBook G4 Ti. Look at that beautiful messy screen of classic apps.

  23. Success! I got my 30 year old #PowerBook to talk over the internet via WiFi! Next step, get #GlobalTalk working… #MARCHintosh

  24. EDIT: They have found a home!

Free to a good home: Two 512 meg RAM modules. I'm pretty sure these were what came from the factory in a PowerBook G4 in 2004. They're in the cases from the DIMMs that replaced them. :apple_inc: :mem_0:

Petit état des lieux d'un Apple Macintosh PowerBook 3400c, un laptop de 1997 beaucoup moins fun que les années "plastiques translucide".

  27. Habe einen alten Screenshot gefunden: #apple #PowerBook 12“ - 17“

Was ein Blick in die Geschichte 😄
256 bzw 512 RAM - nicht GB sondern MB
    40 / 60 GB Festplatte
Und noch Unterscheidung zwischen Combo- und SuperDrive (DVD nur lesen oder auch brennen können)

Ich hatte so ein 12“ mit Superdrive glaube ich 🤔

    Make that *2* #Apple #PowerBook 5300c notebooks.

  29. EDIT: It has found a home.

#FreeToAGoodHome is another PowerBook Duo AC adaptor. Model no AA19200. There's a little paper stuck to the rubber antiskid strips on the bottom. :apple_inc:

#FreeToAGoodHome I have an old PowerBook microphone up for grabs. It's shaped like a first-gen PlainTalk mic, but it has a normal TRS connector on it.

  31. I found sad_mac selling 68040 33/66 daughter cards on eBay for PowerBook 500 series. He has more than 10 and I figure they came out of 540c machines that got PPC upgrades. I only have a 520c and figured, let's see if it'll bump to 33Mhz since the clock crystal is on the card. He offered it to me for $15 plus shipping which was a good deal. Card works great in my 520c. Will run some Snooper tests soon.

  32. @hp wow, well, I've got a little pile of floppy disks on my desk, like 30cm away from me 😅
I don't use them daily, I'm just messy and leave a lot of stuff everywhere 😅
The nearest one (the first of the pile) has a lot of handwritten stuff on it, but none reflecting its content. It's probably mac-formatted because I was repairing a #Powerbook 170 last time I used them. The second one, btw, is definitely something for my #amstrad #ppc640 because it has a piece of tape on the right hole to make it recognized as 720k, and the amstrad is the only 720k machine I've got around...
