The laminated bike fabric looks great for a tube bag or one for your front handle on the bike. I love bikes, so any sort of zipped pouch would also work with it! I had a similar one that I used for a pouch I hung over my neck for my phone before I started sewing all of my own clothing with #pockets. -

@thesquirrelfish Now that I have an #AppleWatch the #FindMyiPhone app gets steady use. I’m gradually realizing that the reason I misplace the phone so often is that I get absorbed in a task while holding it and I lay it down wherever I am when that happens. Sewing #pockets into every garment I have is a helpful strategy, but doesn’t prevent losses.

Young woman at the bar just did an eye-roll and said "young man, you have *no* idea!"
Maybe Count Binface might consider making "pockets for all" an election pledge!

Totally!! And that's what I've been doing this year with virtually every pre-pocket garment I own. For bike shorts or skorts, a hip pocket works best for easy access and less likelihood of sending the phone flying. I often forget that I have my phone there because I don't feel it much as I do my thing.

Did you know that you can extend these ridiculously small front pockets on your jeans by haphazardly attaching some scrap fabric? And that you can do a ridiculously terrible job at it, because nobody will ever see it? (except the fediverse)?
I could barely put half of my hand in there, now I can carry my phone in it.
WHY are pockets on clothes designed for females so insanely small? Make it make sense to me (is it the patriarchy? sexism? whyyy?)...

/edit: btw, the change is invisible from the outside! As long as the pocket is empty, there is no bunching or visible line anywhere. If I put my phone in there, of course you will see that I'm carrying a phone.

Some time ago my mother bought (online) some pairs of white cotton shorts with whitework at the hems, she tried them on, they fit, she used them a couple of times, washed them, and they no longer fit.
so, she gave them to me, and they fit me, as in “i can put them on, but I'd need to take in the waist”, but as long as I'm unpicking them to make them narrower I might as well unpick the crotch seam and turn them into proper split drawers that I can wear both as shorts under skirts to prevent chafing and as underwear under properly victorian dress with a corset and everything.
the funny thing? they have #pockets (and decently sized pockets, too!)
so, yeah, my underwear is going to have pocketses :D and I didn't even have to make them from scratch :D

Ah, inseam pockets? I've installed them incorrectly more often than correctly over the years. I just can't visualize correctly which way everything will go. I've switched to mainly patch pockets and I need a new glue stick for the ones I've cut and ironed now.

(Switched my pocket pieces. Why are they not identical? Because I squeezed them from a leftover bit of fabric. Why not cut the bigger piece to size? Because I want my pockets as big as possible, even if it means differently sized pockets. So back to the seam ripper once more to undo three lines of stitching )

#MeMadeMay My default home outfit is this colourful pair of PJs that I made from a scrubs pattern, almost 5 years ago. The contrasting features are all from Okinawa cotton that I purchased 9 years ago, starting me on my #sewing quest.
The flat Ellen combo is what I wore to pick up a grandkid last night. The purple top was tailor-made in Vietnam, based on a store-bought t-shirt I brought with me. The skirt was given to me by a sewing friend. The shorter length and the #pockets are modifications. -

I'm having fun using random scraps and remnants of batting to make all of these zipped pockets. I remembered to add a handle to this one, but I also cut into the meat of my hand while making it.

Gah! Just as I'm stitching the first side seam on my new skirt, I realize this pattern doesn't have pockets. That will not do! So much for a nice quick sew, because I'm damn well adding french seamed side pockets. 2026 and there's still patterns being released without pockets.... Grumble.

Here's the pattern, pretty cute retro. The kit's just $90, not bad - it comes with all the yarn you'll need to make a big ass man's sweater - but it must be acrylic, they don't say of what it's made - & you have to buy your own zipper (or other; buttons, frogs).
They also sell the pattern alone for $8.
