@platypus @SRLevine If you search for #plumbingdisaster or #disasterremodeling I posted a lot of tips and experience on our disaster (entire house). The biggest advice I'd actually give is (depending on how much water is involved) get your house dried out RIGHT AWAY. Mold is bad news. Had a family member with an infection in the ER a few days later here, life threatening, due to the moisture. Insurance company probably has contractors on call to do the removal of drywall/removal of carpet/water removal/ drying of the house, which is what I did (because they will approve those contractors immediately without going through a lot of fighting with you later on who you picked).

Chatted with the mailman, and apparently there are 3 homes going restoration for similar plumbing disasters on his route. One is a year and a half into restoration; the other the owner is engaged in litigation against the insurance company. #disasterremodeling #plumbingdisaster

Something this old and everything else attached of similar era makes plumbers grumpy! Lesson so far on this disaster is to plan on refreshing plumbing more frequently. That was not in the "becoming a homeowner" brochures, LOL. #plumbing #plumbingdisaster #homeownership

Sigh. More holes. They have not found the leak yet, are going to call a leak detection company. #plumbingdisaster

Great, these guys either screwed through or hammered a hole in my plumbing, new leak. #plumbingdisaster

Hmm, this whole getting-the-house-repaired-after-disaster thing is most certainly slow. Kitchen tile (being replaced) has lead in the glaze, so now a special contractor has to remove the tiles... not sure how long of a delay that is, but unfortunate. Although, better to NOT have leaded tile (not that we're crushing and eating our kitchen tiles....) #plumbingdisaster

I’ll readily admit to being ignorant about plumbing, but this does not look right at all. #plumbing #PlumbingDisaster

Today was extra Monday. Long story short, there is a leak under the house. The plumber is coming tomorrow. I turned off the water earlier but just now we turned it on long enough to run around and flush toilets and take showers. Now it's off again until we need showers tomorrow AM. I called 7 plumbers before I found one who could come before next week. Anyway. I hope it's not an expensive repair.
