  3. «To me, the #PHPFoundation is just a bunch of keynote driven, report-hogging guys.

Just look the guys at Mago and PHPantom havent received any help from them. It's 2026, where the money is going?»

  7. Just watched Romans talk from #LaraconEu. I support his wishlist for more 1st party tools. On the other hand I might slow down development on some of them if everything has to go through a RFC.

I’d love to see 1st party code formatting, static analysis, package manager and maybe even Rector?

  9. PHP turns 28. Thanks to all the developers who have contributed and continue to contribute to the PHP project, most of the time for free. I make my living thanks to all of you. I made my first donation to the PHP Foundation last month, and I'll try to do this a few times a year. I encourage everyone (especially companies, but not only) who makes a living from the free work of open source developers to contribute when it's possible. 😀

  11. Well there it is. "For the first iteration of the Advisory Board, any company that contributed $10,000 in the early stages of the PHP Foundation will be offered the status of a major sponsor and a seat on the Advisory Board through October 2023."

In other words, the future of PHP will be governed by large corporate interests (also, kiss our small annual contribution goodbye).

Rust is looking more attractive day by day.

  13. Bless the folks at the who find the ongoing dominance of PHP 7.4 "alarming".

News flash: most of those sites are being run by individuals and small businesses who are 10,000 times more concerned with making payroll and rent than they are with spending money (or time) on site maintenance, let alone spending money on a full upgrade. Instead, they find the pace of software bit rot very alarming.

    It's all about your perspective.

  14. PHP Foundation Update, July 2022

Last month, the PHP foundation members continued the work on PHP 8.2 release and more. We are prepared to give a few talks this autumn. Also, besides core developers, we have a growing community of volunteers who help the PHP foundation.
