Letztlich bleibt das eine hypothetische Diskussion, aber erinnern wir uns an 2022, damals war der jetzt bald künftige Ministerpräsident von Baden-Württemberg, Cem Özdemir, noch Minister in Berlin.

Sein eigener "Wissenschaftliche Beirat für Agrarpolitik, Ernährung und gesundheitlichen Verbraucherschutz" hatte in einem Gutachten festgestellt, dass der Regelsatz von Hartz 4 gar nicht ausreichend hoch ist, um sich gesund zu ernähren.

Was war seine Antwort, bzw. die seines Hause, auf Forderungen den Regelsatz zu erhöhen?

Ich zitiere mal Foodwatch, die das 2022 gut zusammenfassten: "Die Bundesregierung verpasst Millionen armutsbetroffener Menschen in Deutschland eine Ohrfeige. Wer gesund essen wolle, müsse eben Ernährungsratgeber lesen und an anderer Stelle den Gürtel noch enger schnallen."

Nimmt man zudem Herrn Özdemirs Äußerungen den letzten Wochen im Wahlkampf, aber auch seinen engen Schulterschluss mit jemandem wie Boris Palmer ernst, dürfte nicht nur ich Zweifel daran hegen, dass die Gesamtpartei als solches sich wirklich weiter entwickelt hat, bzw. wenn sie das getan haben sollte, ob nicht bald wieder, nur um bei Wahlergebnissen gut abzuschneiden, nicht doch Rückschritte folgen.

Ja, das Bürgergeld war der Versuch sich von Hartz4 abzusetzen und ein Schritt in die richtige Richtung, aber gerade die Antwort von Cem Özdemir Ministerium verweist auf erhebliche Vorbehalte gegenüber Armutsbetroffenen- und das seitens Menschen auf Ministerialebene, die sich garnicht vorzustellen vermögen, was es heißt, mit 500€ im Monat auskommen zu müssen.

A new Republican House bill proposes sweeping changes to US toxic chemical laws
🔥that would gut protections for consumers, workers and the environment, public health advocates mobilising against the legislation warn.

Among other changes to the
"Toxic Substance Control Act" (TSCA), the bill would
❌limit the type of science that is used to determine health risks,
❌stop legally requiring the Environmental Protection Agency to ensure chemicals won’t harm people,
❌give industry a prominent role in chemical review processes,
❌and make it more difficult legally for the agency to ban toxic substances.

Congress in 2016 strengthened TSCA
But the bill, drafted by Republican Alabama congressman #Gary #Palmer, would reverse many of those changes.
Industry has been attacking the law for the last nine years and is seizing an opportunity to attempt to gut it with the GOP fully in charge of the federal government,
said Daniel Savery, an attorney with the Earthjustice legal nonprofit,
which is among hundreds of groups organizing against the proposal.

“Industry has said it has a ‘historic opportunity’ to revise TSCA,
or gut it, as we believe it to be,”
Savery said.
“It’ll be interesting to see what shade of lipstick they’re going to put on this pig to sell it to their constituents,
who are rightly concerned about the prevalence of toxic chemicals in food, water, soil, and everywhere else.”
🆘The legislative assault on TSCA coincides with a flurry of rule changes within the EPA that also seek to weaken chemical oversight.

"Nicht so lange klatschen"

Es war ein Abend, der die Rechten jubeln ließ. Am 5. September trat Tübingens #Oberbürgermeister Boris #Palmer (parteilos) zum Streitgespräch gegen Markus #Frohnmaier an, den AfD-#Spitzenkandidaten bei der #Landtagswahl in Baden-Württemberg. Ein peinliches Desaster.

Markus Frohnmaier (AfD) redet keine zwei Minuten, als er das erste Mal ins Mikrofon lügt: Beim Themenblock Meinungsfreiheit kommt er auf den Fall einer 16-Jährigen Schülerin aus Mecklenburg-Vorpommern zu sprechen, die angeblich wegen eines harmlosen Schlumpf-Videos auf #TikTok von der Polizei als Gefährderin angesprochen worden sei – tatsächlich ging es aber um ausländerfeindliche Inhalte in verschiedenen Fällen, die seitens der Behörden zwar nicht als rechtswidrig, aber dennoch als staatsschutzrelevant eingestuft wurden.

Weder Boris Palmer (parteilos) noch Moderator Joachim #Knape widersprechen auch nur einer von unzähligen Falschaussagen, die der AfD-Spitzenkandidat für die bevorstehende Landtagswahl in Baden-Württemberg in der Tübinger Hermann-Hepper-Halle verbreitet. Viele Zuhörer:innen halten die #Podiumsdiskussion nicht bis zum Ende durch, verlassen fassungslos den Saal, bis sich die Applauslautstärke der verbliebenen Gäste bei Palmer und Frohnmaier ausgleicht. Der Plan des Tübinger Oberbürgermeisters, die AfD durch inhaltliche Argumente zu entzaubern, geht – wie zu erwarten war – nicht auf.

Doch der Reihe nach: Am 19. Juli wollte die AfD mit gerade einmal 35 Leuten durch Tübingens Innenstadt ziehen. Ein überschaubarer Aufmarsch, der vermutlich von Gegenprotesten in den Schatten gestellt worden wäre: Mehr als tausend Menschen meldeten sich zu Protesten an, um die R#echtspopulisten lautstark zu übertönen. Für den Einzelhandel drohten nach Einschätzung des Oberbürgermeisters sechsstellige Umsatzeinbußen im Sommerschlussverkauf, für die #Polizei ein Großeinsatz mit unklaren Risiken. Daher zog Palmer die Notbremse – und ließ sich auf einen Deal mit den Rechten ein: Die AfD sagte ihre Kundgebung ab, im Gegenzug versprach Palmer, sich mit ihrem Landeschef Markus Frohnmaier am 5. September zu einem Streitgespräch zu treffen. Die Kosten dafür sollen rund 15.000 Euro betragen, die #AfD übernimmt sie.

Gestern durfte ich beim "Tag der digitalen Freiheit" #TdF4 für @LinkeTuebingen mal wieder über die von Boris #Palmer geplante #Kameraüberwachung am neuen #Busbahnhof diskutieren, nachdem zuvor @steffen vom @ctt das Hin und Her zwischen verschiedenen Stellen in dieser Frage ausführlich dargestellt hatte. Es gibt bereits eine Gruppe, die sich überlegt zu klagen, falls die #Videoüberwachung jetzt doch kommt.

Angesichts der schwierigen #Haushaltslage ist es wirklich irritierend, warum jetzt Geld in eine vermutlich rechtswidrige #Überwachung des Busbahnhofs gesteckt werden soll, wenn gleichzeitig laut darüber nachgedacht wird, dass man "#Freiwilligkeitsleistungen" der #Kommune einsparen muss.

Cheap, smart, deadly. The tech industry pitches a new way to wage war.

Anduril Industries hopes it can transform the U.S. military under the new Trump administration.

It imagines the nation defended by fleets of deadly aerial and undersea drones that can tirelessly patrol the world with minimal need for human intervention, poised to strike if ordered to.

Anduril has deep ties to President Donald Trump’s tech funders and advisers.

It is the most prominent among a raft of defense upstarts aiming to challenge established defense contractors by recasting U.S. military technology around nimble drones and software,
instead of giant ships and expensive aircraft.

“It’s about making much-lower-cost, easy-to-produce and mass-manufacture weapons that we can resupply in a time of war,”
said #Brian #Schimpf, chief executive and co-founder of the eight-year-old company.

That approach is winning support inside the Pentagon as it grapples with a major challenge to U.S. power just inherited by Trump.

It is starkly illustrated by a military operation that took place one night this past April, after Iran fired more than 300 missiles and self-destructing drones at Israel from Iran, Iraq, Yemen and Lebanon.

“We are paying millions to shoot down something that costs thousands,”
Adm. Samuel Paparo, commander of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, said last month at the Reagan National Defense Forum in Simi Valley, California.
“We’re on the wrong end of that.”

That asymmetry contributes to another headache for the Defense Department.

War in the Middle East, Russia’s continuing assault on Ukraine, and China’s escalating rhetoric about controlling Taiwan have stretched U.S. weapons stocks and defense industry supply chains,
as the Pentagon supplies allies like Israel in addition to U.S. forces.

If the United States went to war with China, it would run out of long-range precision missiles in less than a week,
according to a 2023 report from the Center for Strategic and International Studies, a think tank.

Anduril is headquartered in the former Los Angeles Times printing press a 30-minute drive from the site of the drone demonstration.

Out front sat an open-topped military humvee owned by #Palmer #Luckey,
the most high-profile of the company’s five co-founders.

He previously sold virtual reality start-up Oculus VR to Facebook at the age of 21 for $2 billion
and was for years one of the few prominent Trump supporters among tech elites
-- until Elon Musk and others embraced the former president in 2024.

Anduril, christened for a sword in “The Lord of the Rings” whose Elvish name means “Flame of the West,”
cultivates a culture starkly different from established defense contractors based in Beltway office parks.

The designs of the company’s sensor towers and cruise missiles evoke military hardware seen in Japanese sci-fi anime shows.

In November, the company launched a merch store featuring Hawaiian shirts modeled by Luckey
and keepsakes from exploded prototypes.

The start-up, which has received more than $4 billion in funding,
started out selling surveillance towers to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

It now has a lineup of eight aerial and aquatic surveillance and attack drones,
with customers including the Pentagon and some U.S. allies.

Its #Lattice software, used in the drone demonstration, provides a way to link up and control different robots, sensors and other military equipment,

Attendees, with white-and-red gift bags and lanyards, knew to be closelipped when approached by hotel interlopers
or by the Times reporter, who was not invited to the closed-press festivities.

But a copy of the agenda listed remarks by several tech billionaires, including the Anduril co-founder #Palmer #Luckey and the venture capitalist #Marc #Andreessen, who spoke about his support for deregulating technology
and the mixed reaction in Silicon Valley to his endorsement of Mr. Trump, according to attendees.

There were tech up-and-comers, too:
Donald Trump #Jr. announced at the welcome dinner that he was entering venture capital.

And days before the president-elect chose Robert F. #Kennedy Jr. for health and human services secretary,
Mr. Kennedy spoke extensively about his public-health work to a standing ovation.

Ms. #Wiles also led a session on “2024 Election Analysis,” where she gave a preview of Mr. Trump’s first days as president.

“It’s the domestic ‘Davos in the desert,’” said the Rockbridge backer #Omeed #Malik, referring to the annual business conference in Riyadh, and Donald Trump Jr.’s new business partner.

Back in 2019, Mr. #Vance, then best known as the author of “Hilbilly Elegy,” and a conservative media figure named #Chris #Buskirk began informally hosting a series of small dinners
that would eventually become called Rockbridge.

The group drew early support from the venture capitalist #Peter #Thiel and eventually caught the attention of Donald J. Trump, who spoke at a few meetings.

Once in the fall and once in the spring, Rockbridge began to gather at places like the Four Seasons in Palm Beach, Fla.,
or the Ritz-Carlton in Dallas for three days of political panels and business networking.

Speakers included people like #Tucker #Carlson; the Thiel protégé #Blake #Masters; the casino mogul #Steve #Wynn; the investor #David #Sacks; and #Woody #Johnson, the billionaire owner of the New York Jets.

Not all attendees have politics at the top of their mind.

Some are primarily interested in business, seeing Rockbridge as a conservative-tinged version of the elite Sun Valley conference.
