Had a very sore lower back after an intense day of paver/drainage work on the weekend, but I just got out for a walk, just short of 5km, and that's made a big difference.

Stiffness may well come back as I cool down, but the cooler mornings lately are pretty great for outdoor time.

Made it an errand run too, stopping at pharmacy and hardware stores along the way.

Change of venue for a walk this morning. Did a short loop, just under 4km, thru Ottawa's Centrepointe park and extended over to Craig Henry park, under the train tracks.

There's very little that goes across that rail corridor, making for a huge inconvenience to walkers and cyclists, forced to use Merivale, Woodroofe, or Greenbank.

For the relatively minor effort of a couple of more underpasses, a myriad of other self-propelled routes could be enabled.

Did a little 3km walk loop to drop off a package.

The difference between 21°C and 23°C is quite noticeable, the latter being rather uncomfortable for a brisk walk. Thankfully the skies were mostly cloudy, with only peeks of sun.

Early morning walk before breakfast today, trying to beat the heat, but still a little clammy by the end.

Six and a half kilometres was a bit too far in the sun.

Initially it was okay but for the latter half of the walk the clouds were avoiding us, just out of spite. Even at only 23C it was too warm without shade.

Happy to take a load off and have a cold drink.

New walking route attempt in progress. Piecing together a few previous routes in a different assemblage.

Looking at maps and thinking up a different walking route for a change.

My newish neighbourhood (CityView/Nepean) has some of what seemed like hard boundaries, but that was from the perspective of only a long-time visitor to the area. The busy arterial roads for example – we'd generally avoid those when out for a relaxing, quiet walk.

Gradually I've found that if you deign to cross some of those unpleasant strips, it opens up a lot of diverse and enjoyable alternative walking routes.

Got a 6km morning walk in.

Wasn't wild about the full sun, and temperature started at 20C and was at 23C by our arrival home, but that's better than the 27C we'll hit later on.

Did a moderate walk though the 'hood at 30°C and lots of sun, though we enjoyed every little bit of shade along the way.

Seemed pretty easy going for the first couple of kilometers, but the heat caught up with us for the last one.

Turned the AC on, and I think it'll be needed for the balance of the week.

Concluding my walk, 7.01km says my watch, but I think it reads a bit high. I'll discount that down to 6.5-ish I think.

Hot by the end, but it would be a lot worse in a couple of hours.

Pedestrians don't have fatal collisions.

This person was struck and killed by a motor vehicle which was ostensibly under the "control" of another person.

Lets be careful out there.

I was almost hit by a car making a left turn into my crosswalk. I was crossing at an intersection, in a crosswalk, on my light.

If I had not been watching the vehicle travelling at speed making a left hand turn into my crosswalk I would be either dead or in an ambulance

I had to JUMP to get out of the way.

The driver, too late,realized and looked shocked.
