I've been intrigued by #OrgSocial so I thought I'd set up an official social.org file for #Orgro:
orgro.org is hosted on GitHub Pages and unfortunately they serve .org files as Content-Type: application/vnd.lotus-organizer of all things 😵💫 Browsers seem to treat this as a binary file and just download it directly. It seems like there's no way to customize how it's served.

🎉 What's New in Org Social! 🎉
This month the community has been buzzing about LoRa radio communications, members shared deep Emacs workflows, including GNUS for email, AUCTeX for papers, BQN/ngn/k array languages with Org Babel, pdf-tools, whisper.el voice dictation tricks, and org-alert debugging on Termux/Android. The org-publish vs Hugo debate sparked up, with one member proudly running a website built 100% with org-mode and elisp.
The spirit of digital freedom ran strong: deleting big tech accounts, supporting EU tech independence, and celebrating that "in plain text, identity verification doesn't exist and never will."
Also, org-social.el v2.11 was released with bug fixes found by the community itself.
And yes, there were cat photos 🐱

🎉 What’s New in Org Social! 🎉
This month the Org Social community has been talking about Emacs workflows and packages, including daily-use tools like denote, TRAMP, eglot, mu4e, and elfeed, as well as specialized packages like beardbolt (Rust disassembly), versuri (music lyrics search), whisper.el (voice dictation), and elfeed-score (RSS scoring).
Technical discussions covered functional programming (learning Haskell and Common Lisp), AI-assisted development with Claude Code, music playback with mpd/mpdel in Emacs, web browsing without JavaScript in eww, and embedded development with Renode integration. Members also participated in the Emacs Carnival sharing their goals, including learning new languages, exploring agentic AI, and contributing more to the Emacs community through blogs and talks.

Version 1.6 of Org Social is released!
- Added `#+LOCATION:` global metadata field for user location (city, country).
- Added `#+BIRTHDAY:` global metadata field for user birthday in YYYY-MM-DD format.
- Added `#+LANGUAGE:` global metadata field for space-separated language codes (ISO 639-1) that the user speaks.
- Added `#+PINNED:` global metadata field to pin a post to the top of the profile using its ID (timestamp).
- Post ID can now be specified in the header (after `**`) in addition to the `:ID:` property in the properties drawer. Both formats are valid. If both are present, the header value takes priority.
There are no plans to release further versions; this can be considered the final or stable version. A process to adapt the existing software will now begin. Thank you to everyone who contributed!

In the first quarter, Org Social already surpassed twtxt in activity.
- Org Social: 609 posts (50.2%)
- twtxt: 603 posts (49.8%)
The difference is only 6 posts; it's practically a technical tie. But even so, it's a good sign.
I'll try to find time to write a post so others can reproduce the data. The methodology wasn't complicated: reading the feeds registered at relay.org-social.org/feeds/ and reading the HTML feed from twtxt.net. There may be more active feeds, but I'm not aware of them.
