  11. It's already many moons old, but I still like the elegance and simplicity of the #OpenDefinition:

“Open data and content can be freely used, modified, and shared by anyone for any purpose”

I only wonder if open data isn't a subset of open content. Perhaps there's some potential for a little more reduction.

  17. Only pre-2023 use of #OpenDefinition found in search on this instance (which presumably is far from exhaustive, but a data point) mastodon.social/@josemurilo@ec

  18. I should've noticed that OKF is here at @okfn and doing a session on rethinking the #OpenDefinition at MozFest mastodon.social/@okfn@fosstodo

  19. Will be interesting to see what comes of this revisiting of the #OpenDefinition blog.okfn.org/2023/03/16/updat

It was (or became) a bit easier to interpret take on the Open Source Defintion, when @osi was not very interested in data (or perhaps the open data community didn't know about OSI, or was intimidated, or something) and there was lots of unclarity about what open data/content was and a proliferation of [sort of, or highly custom] open data/content licenses (this probably continues?)
