@mijustin one thing I'm trying out this year is an addition to my daily notes: a hashtag called #OneGoodThing where I think of one (or more) good things that happened that day. In obsidian, I plan to make a tag summary page that collects them all into a running list of good things for 2025.
Things I've done, choices I've made, celebrating those around me, stuff I've learned, etc.

As for what I'm going to do with it (besides the research project I promised to finish when I applied, which will take up much of my time), that depends on a bunch of things that are still up in the air, so watch this space! But decompressing from the parts of my job that I've found increasingly difficult to stomach will be a big part of it.
I'm already reaping the psychological benefits, too, feeling like I can get through this next semester even if it's bad. Which is 😌 /2fin

One of the communities I follow on Twitter is sharing #OneGoodThing that happened to each of them this year. I'm no longer sharing bits of my life on that site, though, so I'll do that here instead.
I got an academic sabbatical for July-December 2024. For those who don't know what that implies, it's a perk that allows me to stop doing the teaching 40% and the administrative 20% of my job and only do the 40% that's about research for the duration, for 80% salary. It's pretty great. /1
