Good news.
Yesterday, #OKCPS Superintendent Dr. Jamie Polk sent a statement to parents, informing us that our schools will NOT be showing #RyanWalters's video. She said this refusal by OKCPS is in accordance with the law and with the guidance of the Oklahoma Attorney General.
Multiple other #Oklahoma school districts have also refused to comply.

I know his Christofascist-Trump-propaganda prayer video was nothing but a publicity stunt, but seeing so many Oklahomans push back feels good.

Update:
The school messaged parents on Tuesday to let us know that more threats against #OklahomaSchools came via social media on Monday and early Tuesday.
So far, whichever higher-ups are in charge of investigating these things believe the threats are not credible. Good for them. In the meantime, kids and parents and teachers are walking around with nerves like piano wire.
This is the kind of thing that makes me regard the creation of social media as a bad move.

And of course kids at my daughter's school for wind of it, and the rumor mill rapidly churned it into "somebody said they're gonna shoot up OUR school tomorrow!" and I started getting anxious texts from my highly sensitive 6th-grader.
I am so sick of this.

I'm so thankful that our district, #OklahomaCityPublicSchools, provides free breakfast and free lunch to every enrolled student pre-K through 12th grade. This even continued during covid-related school closures. Education-wise, Oklahoma is 2nd-worst in the nation (dropped from 47th since fascist #RyanWalters entered the scene), but at least they're getting *this* right.

Every news article I've read so far lauds McDaniel's performance during his 6yr stint, citing especially the #PathwayToGreatness project that closed 15 schools and restructured 19 others in 2019.
What I'd like someone to report on is how in Jan. 2019, McDaniel straight up lied to an auditorium packed with worried parents, faculty, and staff who voiced their legitimate concerns over #P2G...

I don't understand why #OKCPS will close schools a few days in advance because of a forecast and we wake up on the designated morning with streets as dry as a desert-scoured skeleton -- but when an unforecasted storm causes streets so slick it's a citywide ice rink, schools stay open for business as usual.
