I was a radio dj from the early 90s to the early 00s. There was a woman who did a techno show before my industrial show, and we often chatted while she was wrapping up and I was setting up.

One time, she told me how awful it was that cops kept showing up at the raves looking for a drug called ecstasy.

"Ecstasy isn't a physical thing," she said. "It's a feeling. It's just a word that is said a lot in techno songs."

I tried telling her it actually was a drug, but that made her mad. She accused me of falling for police propaganda.

Funnily enough, the guy who occasionally filled in for her was always high on it any time I saw him, furiously sucking on a baby soother so he wouldn't grind his teeth to nubs.
