@skyfaller i was at many if not most of the #Occupy Oakland general assemblies
I know a lot of the inspiration came from the #APPO, "popular assembly of the peoples of Oaxaca", which was the principal organizing body during the Oaxaca revolt of 2006, which saw police and politicians totaly removed from the territory, radio and television stations siezed and an intricate system of barricades to defend it all. Its worth learning about if you havent already.
The practice of self-management via community assemblies is super old and hundreds, possibly thousands, of communities in Mexico continue to use simular means to manage their societies, as well as trade unions like the cnte.

Could you recommend primary sources? Did you ever attend one?

I'm interested in how it felt to participate in one, and in details of exactly how it functioned (or didn't function).

Has anyone used similar tactics since #Occupy burned out? Wikipedia mentions historical precedents but not anything afterwards.
