having an old mac? happy to say that i crunched a decent compatibility list based on my experiences at #notgpn!!
tl;dr mojave for core 2 duos, monterey/ventura till 2015, sonoma till 2018, sequoia for 4+ cores
i noticed the performance impact wasn’t linear. versions 10.12, 10.13 and 10.14 were performing basically the same. same goes for versions 11 and 12. another batch was represented by 13 and 14. 15 seems to be designed for 4+ core cpus, running lots of tiny background tasks. 26 is a joke

hell to the yeah, finished up my vpngpn project for #notgpn :3
ended up using a combo of dante for my actual socks server and protoplex to mux between nginx and dante
from my current test environment it works great! only things i'm none too certain about yet is how the stackup will behave under my work's more restrictive network
we shall see on wednesday! -

- five repaired pieces of old hardware
- an incomplete fedi server on the apple tv 3
- a complete and working fedi server on the apple tv 1
- a proper 2000s-style home network
- plenty of memes and memories
- wii fit balance board
- msn messenger 👍tomorrow i’m going on a trip to meet up with fedi mutuals, so i’ll be leaving #notgpn in a few hours
it’s been amazing two days, thanks for sticking around <3film @ nikon f70, nikkor 50mm af 1.8, kodak pro image, iso 100
