I wasn't familiar with the fantastic work of Maria Corina Machado. The Nobel committee have helped educate me. I'm so happy to learn about her tireless defence of democracy despite the authoritarians who would destroy it. What an inspiration to others around the world. We need women like Maria Corina Machado everywhere that democracy is under threat.
