I've been trying to up my non metalic matal game with painting. In the absence wanting to waste models on just practice, I made some attempts on a couple of lumps of dry clay I had around.

I canโt remember who originally shared the tip, but if you struggle (like me) to get your non-metallics to actually look โshinyโ, you can take a photo of your initial light placement on the mini and just boost the contrast to max and brightness to min. Try to match what you see with paint.

One of the reasons why I stopped (apart from concerts' schedule) was that I got somewhat stressed with my #bloodbowl Orc Team, given the standards I put myself for that project. Therefore, to get back to habit, I decided to tackle another project for which I put myself with no expectations.
Short session today, only the pants and the base colour for most (not even all) of the #nmm. Little by little. โบ๏ธ

These boots are taking forever, there are so many nooks and crannies, and an arm bracer (?) to go as well. Doesn't help that I am also slow ๐. Today is the first day I've had time to add more paint in a lil.

I'll need to make a completely different self care box with good brushes and a minimum of good paints for next time.And some parchment paper. I'm missing a decent palette. An upturned frisbee with some water in doesn't cut it.

Started this gladiator to see if I could figure out NMM and the rabbit hole was much deeper than I thought it would be! Lots of fun and learning here.
I still see a lot I could probably tweak forever, but also I'm very satisfied with how she came out, and I'm excited for the next thing.
