Comeback Kid + Haywire + Whispers + Speedway

Comeback Kid geldt al jaren als een van de prominente namen binnen de moderne hardcorepunk. De Canadese band uit Winnipeg combineert melodische gitaarlijnen en herkenbare refreinen met de intensiteit die hardcore zo typeert. Het heeft de band dan ook een uitstekende live reputatie opgeleverd! Deze show staat geheel in het teken van hun nieuwe album ‘Chosen Hell’.
Tijdens Comeback Kid shows staan dynamiek, melodie, agressie en publieksinteractie centraal. Meeslepende sing-alongs worden afgewisseld met krachtige breakdowns en dat allemaal in een moordend tempo. Het vijftal weet een toegankelijk geluid te brengen zonder dat dit ten koste gaat van de scherpte en urgentie. Het nieuw te verschijnen album ‘Chosen Hell’ is de eerste plaat sinds ‘Heavy Steps’ uit 2022 en belooft een knaller van formaat te worden waarop alle kenmerken van de Canadese band uitgelicht worden.
Comeback Kid komt niet alleen deze avond, want dit prachtige affiche wordt gecomplementeerd door Haywire, Whispers en Speedway!
Haywire uit Boston, Massachusetts maakt deel uit van een nieuwe generatie bands die de historische New England-scene levend houdt. Hun sound combineert de meedogenloze kracht van klassieke Boston-hardcore met invloeden uit streetpunk en Oi!, wat resulteert in directe en agressieve nummers, gedreven door samenzang, attitude en een sterk gevoel van verbondenheid.
Uit Bangkok, Thailand, komt Whispers die bekendstaat om zijn duistere, agressieve sound, verweven met hun zelfbenoemde stijl: ‘Bangkok Evilcore’. Daarnaast het Zweedse Speedway die klassieke youth-crew-invloeden met moderne hardcore combineert.

Day 1, Friday December 18: Celebrating the next 25 years!
We’ve invited 3 bands that we met and came to existence over the last couple of years. They will carry the torch for the next 25 years, no pressure! On this day we will play songs from our last album Together, the Antillectueel EP and recently released songs. There will be live punk karaoke to make sure the afterparty will last for as long as our legs can keep us up…Day 2, Saturday December 19: Celebrating the past 25 years!
We’ve invited 3 bands and friends who have meant a lot to us since the early years. Expect old bands reuniting and new bands with longtime friends! We will be playing songs from the first five albums, in the lineup that we recorded them in(!). That means we will reunite with our friends Toon, Glen, Tom, Yvo and Bob and play songs together!Over the next weeks we will announce all bands involved…
Tickets are flexible pay-what-you-can priced, hoping that everyone can join the fun. To support the new generation everyone under 18 gets in for free! But make sure to order an under-18 ticket as we need to know how many people are coming. Feel free to leave a setlist request in the order comment!

De moordenaar van de jongen die tijdens de Vierdaagse in hartje #Nijmegen doodgeschoten werd, is nog steeds niet gevonden.
Ik vind het bizar dat met zoveel camera's en mogelijke getuigen (want middenin drukke woonwijk) dit zo moeilijk is voor de #politie.

Het studiejaar is net begonnen dus dat betekent, voor het eerst: HET IS TIJD VOOR DE ALTERNATIEVE INTROWEEK
Of je student bent en nieuw in Nijmegen, of al jaren hier woont - ontmoet gelijkgestemde mensen en vind collectieven waar jij je kan inzetten. Dit jaar hebben we een week lang evenementen op de planning staan, van knutselen en lezingen tot een actietraining. Natuurlijk wordt er heerlijk vegan eten verzorgd door vrijwilligers van De Klinker en Stichting Gast. Op vrijdag vindt de jaarlijkse Alternatieve Intromarkt plaats: hier maak je kennis met collectieven en organisaties die zich bezighouden met feminisme, transrechten, sociale gelijkheid, klimaatrechtvaardigheid, recht op wonen, anarchie, veganisme, open source bewegingen, anti-discriminatie, de strijd tegen grenzen en nog veel meer.
De Klinker is een collectief georganiseerde plek/vrijplaats binnen De Grote Broek, een gelegaliseerd kraakpand in het centrum van Nijmegen. Hier worden acties georganiseerd, vinden culturele en politieke evenementen plaats, en worden er regelmatig soepcafés en fundraisers gehouden.

The semester has started and that means, for the first time: IT’S TIME FOR THE ALTERNATIVE INTROWEEK
Whether you’re a student and new in Nijmegen or have lived here for many years - come and meet like-minded people and find collectives where you can get involved. This year, we have a full week of events with crafts and readings and even an action training. And of course there will be tasty vegan dinners prepared by volunteers from De Klinker and Stichting Gast. On Friday, we will have the yearly Alternative Intromarket where you can meet collectives and organisations from around Nijmegen that focus on feminism, trans rights, social equality, climate justice, housing rights, anarchy, veganism, open source movements, border and migration struggles, anti-discrimination, and much more.
De Klinker is a collectively run space based in De Grote Broek, which is a legalised squat in the center of Nijmegen. Here you will find activist organising, meetings, cultural and political events, weekly soupcafés and community fundraisers.
