Worked #N8LBV on his at-home Allstar 70cm repeater from three Ann Arbor city parks, but by the time I got home I was just far enough away that I could hear him but he couldn't hear me because of the fading on my signal.
Steve says his range is 5 miles to an HT, 10 miles on a base station.
Perhaps it's time to get a modern 2m/70cm base station at home to replace my 2m monoband mid-1990s vintage Kenwood mobile that serves the purpose now?
First I need to try from a parking structure downtown.

The programming cable for my Cotre CO04D showed up today, so I have a holiday project.
This is a (not very good) very cheap ($17) UHF DMR/FM radio with a small number of programmable channels.
Task 1 is to get it to talk to my Pi-Star DMR hotspot, and get into #Fedihams . I'll also set up a few analog channels and try the top of the parking structure to hit a local UHF repeater ( #N8LBV 443.05+ PL107.2 )

ARROW (Washtenaw County Michigan / #AnnArbor area, #EN82 ) annual meeting tonight at the Saline library. Election of officers, plans for next year's meetings, white elephant gift exchange. Thanks to Steve #N8LBV the outgoing technical coordinator, and congratulations to Jay #WB8TKL the incoming technical coordinator.
It was a hybrid meeting (in person and Zoom), and I have a suspicion that the Zoom participants got a less than awesome meeting out of it. It was good to see people in person.
