The Third Gulf War is radically reshaping the Gulf Kingdoms’ perceptions of American reliability and leading them to consider the need to negotiate a post-war regional security arrangement with Iran.

Reuters reported that “Behind the scenes, resentment is mounting ​in Gulf Arab capitals at being drawn into a war they neither initiated nor endorsed but are now paying for economically and militarily”. They added that “At the same time, analysts say the war has left Gulf states reassessing both their security dependence on Washington and the prospect of eventually engaging Tehran on new regional security arrangements — even as trust in Iran has collapsed.” That would be the best outcome for everyone.

It was assessed here at the start of the Third Gulf War after Putin’s calls with regional leaders that one of the goals that his envisaged mediation aims to achieve is for the Gulf Kingdoms to rescind the permission that they gave the US to use their territories and airspaces for attacking Iran. That would force the US into the dilemma of defying them at the risk of rupturing their relations or acceding to this new regional military reality and then pursuing what would likely be a (Russian–mediated?) compromise with Iran.

As surreal as it may seem, Lindsey Graham of all people arrived at a very similar conclusion last week. He wrote on X, “why should America do a defence agreement with a country like the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia that is unwilling to join a fight of mutual interest?… Hopefully Gulf Cooperation Council countries will get more involved as this fight is in their backyard. If you are not willing to use your military now, when are you willing to use it? Hopefully this changes soon. If not, consequences will follow.”

The US military’s departure from the Gulf would solve three problems at once: Iran would no longer be threatened by these forces; the Gulf Kingdoms would be safer since Iran wouldn’t attack them anymore for hosting them; and the US wouldn’t have to defend partners that have proven themselves to be freeloaders. Far from the security vacuum that critics imagine would follow, the Gulf Kingdoms and Iran could begin work on a three-phased regional security plan mediated by their shared Russian partner.

The end goal is for the Gulf Kingdoms and Iran to agree to Russia’s long-proposed Collective Security Concept for the region that readers can learn more about in detail here. Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov also recently referenced it when articulating Russia’s official position towards the Third Gulf War and its hopes for the direction in which the region will go afterwards no matter how unlikely it might now seem to some. Two preliminary steps are required, however, which will now briefly be touched upon.

The first is what can be described as a Gulf Non-Aggression Pact (GNAP), the specifics of which remain to be negotiated but would reasonably include limits on where certain military assets can be deployed, codes of conduct, and crisis communication channels, et al. Once this is agreed to, and it admittedly won’t be an easy task, then Iran could join the Saudi-Pakistani alliance like it’s reportedly considered doing since late last year. This can then form the core of Russia’s envisaged collective security bloc.

To review, the military-political sequence that Russia hopes to mediate in the Gulf is a cessation of hostilities through a series of reasonable mutual compromises, the departure of the US military from the region, GNAP, Iran joining the Saudi-Pak alliance, and then a collective security bloc forming afterwards. Up until the Third Gulf War began, most would have dismissed this strategic vision as a political fantasy, but Reuters’ recent report suggests that this is now a realistic possibility for the region’s post-war future.

The Third Gulf War is radically reshaping the Gulf Kingdoms’ perceptions of American reliability and leading them to consider the need to negotiate a post-war regional security arrangement with Iran.

Reuters reported that “Behind the scenes, resentment is mounting ​in Gulf Arab capitals at being drawn into a war they neither initiated nor endorsed but are now paying for economically and militarily”. They added that “At the same time, analysts say the war has left Gulf states reassessing both their security dependence on Washington and the prospect of eventually engaging Tehran on new regional security arrangements — even as trust in Iran has collapsed.” That would be the best outcome for everyone.

It was assessed here at the start of the Third Gulf War after Putin’s calls with regional leaders that one of the goals that his envisaged mediation aims to achieve is for the Gulf Kingdoms to rescind the permission that they gave the US to use their territories and airspaces for attacking Iran. That would force the US into the dilemma of defying them at the risk of rupturing their relations or acceding to this new regional military reality and then pursuing what would likely be a (Russian–mediated?) compromise with Iran.

As surreal as it may seem, Lindsey Graham of all people arrived at a very similar conclusion last week. He wrote on X, “why should America do a defence agreement with a country like the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia that is unwilling to join a fight of mutual interest?… Hopefully Gulf Cooperation Council countries will get more involved as this fight is in their backyard. If you are not willing to use your military now, when are you willing to use it? Hopefully this changes soon. If not, consequences will follow.”

The US military’s departure from the Gulf would solve three problems at once: Iran would no longer be threatened by these forces; the Gulf Kingdoms would be safer since Iran wouldn’t attack them anymore for hosting them; and the US wouldn’t have to defend partners that have proven themselves to be freeloaders. Far from the security vacuum that critics imagine would follow, the Gulf Kingdoms and Iran could begin work on a three-phased regional security plan mediated by their shared Russian partner.

Dreams of a progressive Muslim World: The leaders who dared to challenge the Empire

I saw a historical photo on Facebook wall of these two great Muslim revolutionaries, who wanted to liberate the Muslim world from the tenacity of Imperialism. They had decided to unite the Muslims and make them face the challenges of the modern and progressive world. As Qaddafi was against monarchy and had toppled the regime of Libyan King Shah Idrees, all Arab monarchs turned  against him as they were fearful of his revolutionary ideology. His “Green Book”, had given a new political, economic and social system based on equality, justice, progression and  freedom.

It was in 1983, on the invitation of the government of Libya, I participated in an International Conference in Libya. The conference was held in the university of Ben Ghazi. I got an opportunity to meet Muammar Qaddafi. He was very impressive personality with meditative eyes. It was seven days session. In the last session of the conference, he gave speech for two hours, which was full of political wisdom and dealt with international political issues. He looked like a philosopher.

My speech was appreciated by the audience as it was revolutionary, rational and eloquent. When I returned, the intelligence agencies contacted me, tried to intimidate me and reprimanded me for visiting the conference held by the government of Libya. As Qaddafi was a great friend of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and had the Apex Conference of Muslim leaders and rulers invited by Mr. Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, which is known as Islamic Summit Conference, Lahore.

General Zia was against Qaddafi. Anyone who visited the Embassy of Libya in Islamabad, was chased, harassed and kept under surveillance by the government agencies. So, I was always under surveillance. I was directed to appear before the Punjab Secretary of Education Mr. Sadiq at his office in Lahore. At that time, l was professor of English literature at Gordon College, Rawalpindi. I explained to him, as to why I attended Libyan Conference. I told him that it was not a political conference.

It was a conference on the unity of Muslims and I being a Muslim and author of some books, felt my Islamic duty to participate in this conference. But the concept of Islam of General Zia was altogether different from the concept of Islam of Qaddafi. The former desired American Islam, while the latter wanted Muhammedan Islam. I was warned by the Secretary Education to be careful in future and avoid having any contact with the Libyans. There were two officers of different two intelligence agencies sitting along with him. He said to me:

“Professor you seem political minded and an ideological person but it is martial law regime, be careful.”

He was not rude to me, rather seemed respectful for my courage and conviction. I realized, he was a man of conscience and inwardly was against the military rule of General Zia.

The other pic is of the Pride of Asia, Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, who was hanged by the fascist government of General Zia. Mr. Bhutto was accused of false charges and manoeuvred to be hanged by General Zia. Earlier, Bhutto was warned by the Foreign Minister of America, Henry Kissinger, who was a Jew, to drop the idea of making Pakistan a nuclear state as his half grave had been dug.

This detail can be read in the book of Mr. Bhutto which he wrote in jail titled “If I am Assassinated”. Per the wish of his daughter Ms. Benazir Bhutto, I had written a book titled “The Ideals of Bhutto.” This book was published in 2007 and then its second edition was published in 2011 by National Book Foundation, Islamabad.

I had also written a book emphasizing the views of Qaddafi titled “Third Universal Theory“. This book was sent to him by the Libyan Ambassador in Islamabad. Besides, I was the Chairman of Green Book Society.

What I want to impress upon is that these two great Muslim leaders were killed by the “Muslims” who were the stooges of Imperialism.

Basically, Mr. Bhutto was hanged for three reasons: First; he planned to make Pakistan an atomic power. Second; He desired to unite Muslims which was the aim of Jamal-ud- Afghani and Dr Allama Iqbal. Third; he asked the Arab rulers to use oil as a weapon against imperialists and charge proper price of their oil. This agenda alerted America and the it was decided to finish him.

General Zia was just a tool in the hands of America. It must be mentioned here, that Mr. Bhutto had categorically told Henry Kissinger that Pakistani atom bomb would be nothing to do against Israel, it is a deterrent against India as India has made atom bomb which is a great threat to Pakistan. Being an ardent Zionist, he did not agree with Bhutto.

Summing up, it seems pertinent to mention that this poignant photograph has brought to mind the visionary Muslim leaders, Muammar Qaddafi and Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, who dared to challenge the imperialist stronghold on the Muslim world. Their unwavering commitment to unity, progress, and liberation continues to inspire generations.

I had the privilege of meeting Qaddafi in 1983, at an international conference in Libya, where he delivered a captivating speech that showcased his profound understanding of global politics. His “Green Book” presented a revolutionary framework for equality, justice, and freedom, which earned him both admiration and animosity from Arab monarchs and Western powers and eventually, he was killed and his dead body was buried somewhere in desert to permanently hide his grave.

Qaddafi’s friendship with Bhutto, and their joint efforts to unite Muslim leaders, made him a target for General Zia’s regime. I, too, faced repercussions for attending the Libyan conference, and my subsequent interactions with Libyan officials were monitored by intelligence agencies.

Bhutto, the Pride of Asia, met a tragic end at the hands of General Zia’s fascist regime. My book on Qaddafi’s “Third Universal Theory”, sent to Muammar Qaddafi via the Libyan Ambassador, reflects my deep admiration for this revolutionary leader.

The assassination of these two leaders orchestrated by imperialist stooges, underscore the perils faced by those who challenge the status quo. The Karbala tragedy reminds us that such betrayal is not unprecedented in Islamic history. As we reflect on their legacies, we must continue to strive for a united, progressive, and liberated Muslim world. Let peace and justice prevail and fascism and imperialism vanish.

I salute those Americans and Westerners, who believe in freedom, democracy, justice, human rights and peace and are above racism and religious discrimination. Alas; majority of their politicians are a plaything in the hands of Zionists, who abundantly fund them in their elections and buy their sympathies and support in the favour of Israel. If the Arab monarchies start funding them, they will support Palestinians. Money makes the mare go. It is my considered opinion, if the Middle East Crisis is amicably settled according to UN resolutions and OSLO Accord, then there will be no need to kill any Bhutto and Qaddafi of future.

Islam’s Teachings on Slavery, Emancipation, and Human Dignity: A Scholarly Refutation of Modern Misconceptions

The topic of slavery in Islam is among the most misrepresented subjects in modern discourse. Critics often approach the subject through the lens of post-Atlantic slavery, an economic system built on race, perpetual bondage, plantation labour, and dehumanisation. Islamic law (Shari‘ah), by contrast, dealt with an already-existing global institution and placed upon it unprecedented restrictions, regulations, and pathways to abolition. Any fair analysis must distinguish between what Islam introduced and what pre-Islamic societies practiced.

Slavery existed in every civilisation: Greek, Roman, Persian, Indian, African, and Jewish societies all institutionalised it. When Islam emerged in the 7th century, slavery was a global norm with no ideology or religion working to reform it.

Rather than abruptly banning an economic structure embedded across continents, which would have produced mass social collapse and human catastrophe, Islam enacted a gradual abolition through four major pathways:

A). Closing all doors to new slavery except one: the lawful capture of enemy combatants in a legitimate, declared war.

Random kidnapping, enslavement of civilians, debt slavery, and enslavement through raids were all categorically prohibited.

B). Opening multiple doors for emancipation: freeing slaves became

○ an expiation for many sins (Qur’an 4:92; 5:89; 58:3),

○ among the highest acts of worship, and

○ an obligation upon the state treasury (Bayt al-Māl) for those unable to purchase freedom.

C). Guaranteeing legal rights and personhood: slaves could own property, conduct business, petition a judge, marry, study, and seek freedom through mukātaba (contracted emancipation), which masters were obligated to honour.

D). Ending the multi-generational caste system: children born to concubines became free, fully legitimate, and equal heirs—something entirely unknown to ancient societies.

If one compares these reforms to other civilisations, Islam stands out as the only pre-modern system that made emancipation a religious duty.

1. The Islamic Moral Framework: Human Equality and Dignity

At the core of Islamic teaching is the principle:

“We have honoured the children of Adam.” (Qur’an 17:70)

Human beings possess inherent dignity, regardless of race, class, or status. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) famously declared:

“Your servants are your brothers.” (Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī, 30)

He commanded Muslims to:

• feed slaves the same food they eat,
• clothe them like themselves,
• not call them “slave,” but “my young man / my young woman,”
• and free them whenever possible.

This is not the rhetoric of a faith promoting oppression. It is the rhetoric of a lawgiver setting slavery on a path toward extinction.

1. Misconception 1: “Islam allowed rape of concubines.”

This accusation reveals a profound ignorance of Islamic law.

A). Sexual relations required consent under Shari‘ah

The Qur’an forbids forced sexual violation categorically:

“Do not compel your women to prostitution when they desire chastity.” (Qur’an 24:33)

Classical jurists used this verse to establish a universal maxim:

“Coercion invalidates all sexual rights.”

The jurists were unanimous that sexual coercion is a punishable offense, regardless of whether the woman was a wife, concubine, or stranger. If a man violated a captive, he was subject to ḥadd punishment, financial compensation, and the captive became instantly free by law (istīlād bi’l-fajūr).

B). Concubinage existed only after legal warfare

Islam did not permit taking random women as concubines. Only women captured in a legitimate war, where both sides recognised the laws of war, could be taken into custody. This was the universal norm across civilisations.

C). Captives had immediate protections

• They could not be harmed, sold into prostitution, or separated from their children.
• They could demand mukātaba (contractual freedom).
• Any child born to them was free, and the mother became permanently protected and emancipated at the master’s death.

Islamic concubinage was therefore nothing like the plantation, race-based, perpetual slavery of the Atlantic world.

1. Misconception 2: “Slavery in Islam was unlimited.”

Islam drastically narrowed the circumstances in which a person could enter bondage.

Only one path remained: war between sovereign nations.

Pre-Islamic Arabia had:

• debt slavery,
• kidnapping,
• highway enslavement,
• enslavement of the weak,
• and hereditary multi-generational bondage.

Islam abolished every one of these.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) declared:

“Allah has removed from you the pride of the Age of Ignorance.”

This included the system of perpetual slavery based on lineage. Under Islamic law:

• A slave could become a scholar, a judge, even a governor.
• Several leading scholars of hadith were former slaves.
• The most powerful general of the Abbasid era, Nasr al-Khuzāʿī, was born from a concubine.

• political justice,
• and state responsibility.

Empires that became deeply Islamic, like the Muslim West African states, are historically documented as reducing slavery far below their non-Islamic neighbours. Thus, the claim that Islam “preserves slavery” is historically and legally inaccurate.

1. Theological Wisdom: Why Didn’t Islam Ban It Overnight?

A sudden ban in 7th-century Arabia would have meant:

• hundreds of thousands of displaced, starving people,
• no welfare institutions to protect them,
• destruction of families,
• civil unrest,
• and collapse of the economy.

Islam does not legislate idealism detached from reality. It legislates mercy grounded in practicality.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) followed the same model with wine: gradual prohibition, step by step, until society could bear the change.

Similarly, Islam:

1. Dried up the sources of slavery,
2. Freed existing slaves gradually,
3. Provided rights and dignity during transition,
4. Made emancipation a divine virtue,
5. Set the institution on a path to disappearance.

This is not moral failure; it is moral excellence.

There are three major reasons:

A). Anachronism

They project modern Western moral categories onto ancient institutions.

B). Selective reading

They quote a verse or hadith out of context, ignoring legal commentaries, juristic consensus, and historical realities.

C). Confusing Islamic reform with pagan practice

Islam did not create slavery; it reshaped it until it died out in Muslim societies.

1. Islam’s Legacy: The Most Humane Slave Code in Pre-Modern History

If we compare:

• Roman slavery
• Greek slavery
• Persian slavery
• European medieval slavery
• Atlantic slavery
• Hindu caste-based slavery

Islam’s system stands out for:

• recognising the slave’s full humanity,
• obligating kind treatment,
• forbidding mutilation, torture, or exploitation,
• encouraging emancipation passionately,
• and eliminating racial justifications entirely.

It is no coincidence that the Atlantic world, built on racial slavery, feared Islam’s spread among enslaved Africans. Islam empowered them with dignity.

Conclusion: Islam’s Teachings Cannot Be Measured by Ignorant Accusations

Islam confronted a global institution with wisdom, restraint, and long-term reform. It did not endorse injustice; it neutralised it. It did not create slavery; it abolished every source but one and then opened dozens of doors to freedom.

The Qur’an’s consistent message is liberation, dignity, and justice:

“And what will make you know the uphill path? It is freeing a slave.” (Qur’an 90:12–13)

Any honest reader must acknowledge that Islam’s approach to slavery was revolutionary for its time, and far more humane than any other civilisation. Far from being a stain, it is a testament to the prophetic mission of our beloved Master Muhammad (peace be upon him): a mission that confronted entrenched injustice with realism, mercy, and divine wisdom.

On the Need of Unity Between Semitic Faiths

The Holy Quran gives a call of unity and harmony to all humanity and intends to unite all humans under the banner of One God. It is called Monotheism; belief in One God. Oneness of God means oneness of mankind. The Quran asks the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) to invite the People of Book to harmonious relations and dialogue with wisdom and decency.

Today, the whole world stresses on the need of Interfaith relations and dialogue, but it should be noted that it was the Quranic instruction and advice to unite the believers of different faiths and maintain harmony, peace, and unity between different religions. The Truce of Medina between the Jews and the Muslims was the brain child of the Holy Prophet to maintain cordial relations between the followers of Judaism and Islam. One point of the Truce was to jointly defend the attack of outsiders. But in the Battle of Trench between the idolaters of Mecca and the Muslims of Medina, the Jews breached the truce and helped the Meccans against the Muslims. Consequently, the Muslims attacked the Jews residing in Khyber and defeated them. Some of them were killed and others banished from Medina.

It is true that the Jews, according to the Holy Quran were a Chosen race and God showered His immense blessings on Bani Israel. But, at the same time, the Holy Quran in the Chapter “The Cow”, severely condemns the breaches of covenants, and murder of the prophets by the Tribe of Israel. The Jews of Medina are also condemned for their enmity against Muslims and Islam.

At present, the peaceful relations between the Jews, the Christians and the Muslims in Middle East are the utmost need of the hour. Israel has exceeded all limits and is persistently persecuting the innocent citizens of Gaza in Palestine. For the last seven decades, the Palestinians are heavily suffering under the stone walls of Israeli aggression.

The present Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu is a fascist and racist. He wants to win the upcoming elections and is fuelling the fire of racism and religious extremism against the Muslims of Palestine. He has announced the establishment of Greater Israel. To achieve his cherished dreams, he is using American establishment. These are the Zionists who are racists and religious fanatics. The enlightened and humanistic Jews in Israel and throughout the world are condemning the inhumane policies of Benjamin Netanyahu. They are protesting against genocide of the Civilians of Gaza.

The people who talk about the recognition of Israel by Muslim states, must realize the hazards of recognizing Israel until Israel recognizes Palestine according to UN resolution of Two Independent States. For two years, Israel has killed one hundred thousand innocent civilians of Gaza including children and women. The former President of America, visited Israel and in a joint press conference with Benjamin Netanyahu announced to be more than a Zionist and announce full support to Israel against Palestine. Is his announcement not against the UN resolutions? When a president of USA supports Israeli aggression, then how the peace can be maintained in Middle East?

The present president of America Donald Trump in his previous tenure also visited and announced full support to Israel. It is welcoming gesture that now President Donald Trump is mediating for a peaceful solution of this crisis. He has proposed twenty points for reconciliation. It is a healthy start but the intentions of the Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu are absolutely obnoxious. He can’t be trusted.

Yesterday, in an interview, he boasted of having very positive and fruitful meetings with American President Donald Trump and regarded his visit to America very successful for the Israeli cause. When questioned about Two States Formula, he categorically denied to accept Palestine as an independent state. This announcement is a clear violation of the UN resolutions and OSLO act. As he is planning to win the upcoming elections, he is playing with the racial sentiments of the Jews. His main interest is the release of the Israeli hostages and eradication of Hamas. It seems as after achieving these two goals, he will leave no stone unturned to crush all Palestinians. As he aspires to establish Greater Israel, he will repeat the genocidal holocaust of the Palestinians.

Israel does not honour the UN resolutions and there is no body to check the illegal activities and inhumane atrocities of Israel in Gaza, then who will stop Israel from her obnoxious acts, if Hamas is banned or eradicated? What will be the future of the Palestinians, when the presidential tenure of Donald Trump ends? What is the guarantee that the new president will protect the Palestinians from the brutality of Israel?

When the Muslims of Bosnia Herzegovina were disarmed with a pledge of peaceful settlement, then three million Muslims were brutally killed. No one came to save them from the brutal genocide of the Serbs. Eventually, it was president of America Bill Clinton who intervened on humanitarian basis and got the war ended. It occurred after the heart wrenching genocide of the innocent civilians of Bosnia Herzegovina.

Similarly, the American president Donald Trump has announced to mediate after the massive genocide of the innocent civilians of Gaza. We must appreciate his efforts, though it is very late as one thousand hundred people have been killed and houses, hospitals and schools destroyed. Let us hope for better times. Peace cannot be guaranteed or maintained without the enforcement of justice.

Are these the Palestinians who are perpetrating atrocities on the people of Israel? These are the Israelis who are uncouth and merciless and are even shooting the children and women at random in Gaza.

Israel is the violator of UN resolutions and needs to be harnessed and pressured to act upon UN resolutions. If Donald Trump is sincerely trying for a permanent peace in Middle East, then he will have to stop Benjamin Netanyahu from the genocide of the people of Gaza and accept the UN Security resolution, otherwise, this will be absolutely a futile effort as Israeli Zionists are determined to erase Palestine from the globe and establish Greater Israel. It is the right time for Muslims to be vigilant and unite against Israeli aggression and establish Muslim Army to protect the Muslims as well as non-Muslims who are the victims of aggression and oppression as the Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet of Islam instruct us.

On the Need of Unity Between Semitic Faiths

The Holy Quran gives a call of unity and harmony to all humanity and intends to unite all humans under the banner of One God. It is called Monotheism; belief in One God. Oneness of God means oneness of mankind. The Quran asks the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) to invite the People of Book to harmonious relations and dialogue with wisdom and decency.

Today, the whole world stresses on the need of Interfaith relations and dialogue, but it should be noted that it was the Quranic instruction and advice to unite the believers of different faiths and maintain harmony, peace, and unity between different religions. The Truce of Medina between the Jews and the Muslims was the brain child of the Holy Prophet to maintain cordial relations between the followers of Judaism and Islam. One point of the Truce was to jointly defend the attack of outsiders. But in the Battle of Trench between the idolaters of Mecca and the Muslims of Medina, the Jews breached the truce and helped the Meccans against the Muslims. Consequently, the Muslims attacked the Jews residing in Khyber and defeated them. Some of them were killed and others banished from Medina.

It is true that the Jews, according to the Holy Quran were a Chosen race and God showered His immense blessings on Bani Israel. But, at the same time, the Holy Quran in the Chapter “The Cow”, severely condemns the breaches of covenants, and murder of the prophets by the Tribe of Israel. The Jews of Medina are also condemned for their enmity against Muslims and Islam.

At present, the peaceful relations between the Jews, the Christians and the Muslims in Middle East are the utmost need of the hour. Israel has exceeded all limits and is persistently persecuting the innocent citizens of Gaza in Palestine. For the last seven decades, the Palestinians are heavily suffering under the stone walls of Israeli aggression.

The present Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu is a fascist and racist. He wants to win the upcoming elections and is fuelling the fire of racism and religious extremism against the Muslims of Palestine. He has announced the establishment of Greater Israel. To achieve his cherished dreams, he is using American establishment. These are the Zionists who are racists and religious fanatics. The enlightened and humanistic Jews in Israel and throughout the world are condemning the inhumane policies of Benjamin Netanyahu. They are protesting against genocide of the Civilians of Gaza.

The people who talk about the recognition of Israel by Muslim states, must realize the hazards of recognizing Israel until Israel recognizes Palestine according to UN resolution of Two Independent States. For two years, Israel has killed one hundred thousand innocent civilians of Gaza including children and women. The former President of America, visited Israel and in a joint press conference with Benjamin Netanyahu announced to be more than a Zionist and announce full support to Israel against Palestine. Is his announcement not against the UN resolutions? When a president of USA supports Israeli aggression, then how the peace can be maintained in Middle East?

The present president of America Donald Trump in his previous tenure also visited and announced full support to Israel. It is welcoming gesture that now President Donald Trump is mediating for a peaceful solution of this crisis. He has proposed twenty points for reconciliation. It is a healthy start but the intentions of the Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu are absolutely obnoxious. He can’t be trusted.

Yesterday, in an interview, he boasted of having very positive and fruitful meetings with American President Donald Trump and regarded his visit to America very successful for the Israeli cause. When questioned about Two States Formula, he categorically denied to accept Palestine as an independent state. This announcement is a clear violation of the UN resolutions and OSLO act. As he is planning to win the upcoming elections, he is playing with the racial sentiments of the Jews. His main interest is the release of the Israeli hostages and eradication of Hamas. It seems as after achieving these two goals, he will leave no stone unturned to crush all Palestinians. As he aspires to establish Greater Israel, he will repeat the genocidal holocaust of the Palestinians.

Israel does not honour the UN resolutions and there is no body to check the illegal activities and inhumane atrocities of Israel in Gaza, then who will stop Israel from her obnoxious acts, if Hamas is banned or eradicated? What will be the future of the Palestinians, when the presidential tenure of Donald Trump ends? What is the guarantee that the new president will protect the Palestinians from the brutality of Israel?

When the Muslims of Bosnia Herzegovina were disarmed with a pledge of peaceful settlement, then three million Muslims were brutally killed. No one came to save them from the brutal genocide of the Serbs. Eventually, it was president of America Bill Clinton who intervened on humanitarian basis and got the war ended. It occurred after the heart wrenching genocide of the innocent civilians of Bosnia Herzegovina.

Similarly, the American president Donald Trump has announced to mediate after the massive genocide of the innocent civilians of Gaza. We must appreciate his efforts, though it is very late as one thousand hundred people have been killed and houses, hospitals and schools destroyed. Let us hope for better times. Peace cannot be guaranteed or maintained without the enforcement of justice.

On this Tress Dance, some people have commented and written that this is the traditional cultural dance of the people of UAE and one should not look at it from Islamic view point. Some others have sarcastically and sardonically criticized this custom calling it un-Islamic. In my opinion, the people of UAE are Muslims and the Muslims are not permitted to celebrate any pre-Islamic custom that collides with the teachings of Islam.

Dear Mr. Azhar Ali Malik

With due respect, and agreeing with you that the dance of tresses of women is the part of the culture of the people of UAE, and it has nothing to do with Islam. These are your comments on the protest of Ms. Farzana Naheed posted on Facebook. She has written that such a dance is un-Islamic. You have discarded her plea.

The simple question is: Is it Pre-Islamic culture? If so, then are the Muslims of UAE exempted from Islamic norms, practices and laws after embracing Islam? Does Islam permit such dance of ladies’ tresses? It may be in Monarchic Islam but it is not the Mohammedan Islam.

The Arab monarchy is the legacy of Yazid, who used to drink wine and see the dance of young girls and commit adultery. This show of the rulers of UAE is absolutely shocking and shameful. Did the President of America Donald Trump demand such ignoble customs? He didn’t. Then, why such Un-Islamic rite was presented? Only to show the American president that the Arabs are very liberal and modern and have adopted the American and Western values and culture. They are not fundamentalists. They made economic pacts of trillions of dollars with America to please the American president who had once publicly said:

“If I decide, I can finish all Arab monarchies in one week.”

All Arab monarchs are afraid of America; hence they lick the shoes of Americans. They are American stooges. They are practically the slaves of America. Should we blame America? No; not at all. America is a superpower. The Americans have established strong institutions. They have scientific knowledge and scientific mindset. America is a military and economic power. Americans are democratic. It is their natural right to rule over the slaves.

The Arabs are non-scientific minded people. They are rash, rude, rough and rotten. They are dictators and sectarian. The Arab rulers spend trillions of dollars on enjoyment. Instead of using Petrol dollars on science and technology, they spend this money on wine and womanizing. The rich Arabs are seen in the clubs and casinos of America and Europe, while the poor Arabs live miserable life. The Arab rulers do not know where to spend this money. Under such circumstances, what else can be expected from the Arab monarchs, except offering aeroplane of many million dollars by Qatar, and trillions of dollars packed by Saudi Arabia and dance of ringlets by UAE to America president?

The Arab monarchs have never taken any action or interest in the matter of Palestine and Kashmir. Shame on them. Had they spent their money to improve the economic condition of other Muslim countries and supported them in being advanced in science and technology, they would not have been the slaves of America. America has not made them slaves; their incompetence and irrational mindset has made them the shoe-lickers.

There are the following traditional cultural dances of UAE.

• The Ayyalah: it is a traditional stick dance simulating war, showcasing strength and bravery.
• The Luba: A dance illustrating victory, pride, courage, often performing at weddings.
• The Heban: A dance form using a stringed instrument for tempo and melody, commonly performed at celebrations.
• The Tanoura Dance: A folklore dance featuring colourful skirts, popular in UAE
• Belly Dance: It is also called “Raqs-e-Sharqi”. An exotic performance art with complex moves and invigorating music, often performing during desert safaris.

There is no Tress Dance in the traditional dances of Arabs or of UAE. Islam strictly ordains to ladies to cover head. Head sheet or scarf is prescribed by Islamic teachings. Most of the Muslim jurists deduce the inference from the Quran and from the sayings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) for ladies to cover head. How a Muslim country can show the dance of tresses?

Some Arab monarchs have been enjoying Naked Dance of women. Can such ignoble practices be continued as a legacy of Arab monarchic traditions? The people who are supporting or justifying this Dance of Tresses by the rulers of UAE are either entirely ignorant of Islamic norms or are defending this ignoble practice by some calculated designs.

Israel Demands Turkiye Be Expelled From NATO After Erdogan Threatens To Invade The Jewish State

In a rather surprising development, Israel’s Foreign Minister Israel Katz is demanding that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) expel Turkiye over President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s recent remarks about intervening in the Jewish State over the latter’s widely condemned military campaign in Palestine.

The Israel’s Foreign Ministry has stated, according to The Times of Israel, that “in light of Turkish President Erdogan’s threats to invade Israel and his dangerous rhetoric, Foreign Minister Israel Katz instructed diplomats… to urgently engage with all NATO members, calling for the condemnation of Turkiye and demanding its expulsion from the regional alliance.” Kat is also accusing the Turkish authorities in Ankara of joining the “Iranian axis of evil”, as he calls it, “alongside Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis in Yemen.” The Atlantic Alliance in any case does not even have, as of now, a mechanism to expel a member, and back in 2021 NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said that creating such a system “would never happen”.

The Israeli move is arguably quite arrogant, given the fact that the country is not even a NATO member itself – although it is, as the US government calls it, a “major non-NATO ally” (MNNA), in the spirit of the so-called Mediterranean Dialogue (MD) since 1994. Israeli leaders however have traditionally viewed their country as a “natural partner” to the political West. Back in 2007, then Leader of the Opposition (and today’s Prime Minister) Benjamin Netanyahu said, at the Second Annual NATO-Israel Symposium, that “Israel is NATO – we are the West. We are the same.” Although a rhetorical statement, 17 years on, his thinking remains quite the same on that issue.

During a speech to his Justice and Development (AK) Party on Sunday Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said his country could intervene militarily in Israel’s war in Palestine. “We need to be very strong so that Israel cannot do these ridiculous things to Palestine. Just as we entered Karabakh, just as we entered Libya, we can do something similar to them.” Erdogan’s statement prompted the Israeli Foreign Minister to say in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that, by supposedly threatening to attack Israel, the Turkish leader would be following the steps of Saddam Hussein (who ended up captured by US soldiers). The reference is odd, considering the fact that, unlike Iraq, Turkiye is a NATO member state. In a rejoinder, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs posted that “just as genocidal Hitler ended, so will genocidal Netanyahu”, referring to the ongoing massacre of Palestinians (which many have described as a genocide). Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has gone so far as to state that Erdogan has “become the voice of humanity’s conscience.”

It is a bit ironic that Erdogan should mention the Nagorno-Karabakh region (also known as Artsakh) as an example of an area where Turkiye intervened. This is arguably a stance where Ankara sided with the aggressor: it backed the the Azerbaijani September 19 military campaign, which has been described by  David J. Scheffer (a senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations) as the “ ethnic cleansing” of the ethnic Armenian population of the Nagorno-Karabakh enclave in Azerbaijan.

Thus, it is fair to assume that Armenians in general certainly do not see Erdogan as “the voice of humanity’s conscience” at all. Ironically, Israel too helped the Azerbaijani capture of Nagorno-Karabakh, supplying it with weapons. The country is a major supplier of oil to Tel Aviv, plus it is a strategic ally against their common enemy Iran. So in that particular conflict, Turkiye and Israel are aligned, even indirectly. Beyond that, the two countries do not agree on much.

Over the last decade, the relationship between Tel Aviv and Ankara has been deteriorating. In March 2022, as I wrote, there were attempts at a reconciliation with Turkiye then seeking rapprochement with its traditional foes – but Israel’s ongoing war in Gaza (launched in October 2023 with the Operation Swords of Iron), changed everything. It has not only halted any Turkish-Israeli steps towards reconciliation: since the 2020 Abraham Accords, a number of Arab states had normalized their relations with the Jewish state and, in some cases, even deepened strategic cooperation agreements. In this context, Saudi Arabia was seen as potentially being the next one in line. Until the Gaza crisis came about.

Likewise, the current Red Sea crisis (with the Houthis rebels disrupting naval trade) is in itself a direct spillover effect of the US-backed disastrous Israeli operations in Palestine.

The Israeli military campaign started as a response to Hamas’ October 7 unprecedented violent attacks and has prompted massive demonstrations across Ankara and Istanbul (and also in many cities in Europe and all over the world). According to UN special rapporteur on the right to food, Israel is deliberately starving the Palestinian population, which constitutes genocide.

Back to Turkish-Israeli tensions, it is not the first time top Turkish officials compare Israeli leaders to Nazi ones, and there has been a war of words for a while, especially after the US-backed country launched its military operations in Palestine. Erdogan’s latest statement however marks an escalation of tensions. One may recall Turkiye restricted some of its exports to Israel in April and is said to have stopped all trade with the country in May.

Tel Aviv in turn is threatening to end its free trade agreement with Ankara. Could things escalate militarily? Erdogan’s statement, if taken seriously, seems to point in that direction. This would further complicate an already intricate geopolitical chessboard. With Israel’s recent assassination of Hamas’ political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Iran, the long-going proxy Israeli-Iranian war (the so-called “secret war”) risks escalating into direct warfare – which is a disturbing prospect. I wrote about this scenario in July 2022, and today it looks closer than ever.

Turkiye’s attempts to project itself as a regional or even a global leader (as the “voice of humanity’s conscience”, in the words of its Foreign Ministry) are part of wider ambitions that many have described as a Neo-Ottomanist agenda. Such has always faced opposition in the Middle East and beyond. One may recall that as early as 2021, Gulf nations (with the exception of Qatar) thought of Ankara and Tehran as a larger threat than Israel – with Turkiye involved in a number of proxy wars with Arab states in North Africa.

Moreover, normalization agreements with Tel Aviv were on the rise. With that in mind, despite the tensions involving Persians, Arabs and Turks, one could argue that today Israel is inadvertently doing more for bringing together Muslim countries than anyone else. Meanwhile, the deepening division within NATO and the wider political West are clearly exposed, with Turkiye increasingly being the odd man out (who does not hesitate to use leverage, as seen in the case of Sweden’s accession to the organization), and there being no way of out this awkward situation for the Atlantic Alliance.

Dr Iqbal had said:

“The punishment of weakness is sudden death.”

It means the nations which are not rational, active, strong and practical are doomed to death and bound to dwindle, diminish, destroy, disconcert and eventually perish.

Great Muslim historian Ibne Khaldon also opined that the nations, like a child are born, enjoy youth and then get old and then are perished. The history records several events of the rise and fall of nations. The book written by Gibbon titled “The Rise and Fall of Nations” speaks volumes of this matter. The Holy Quran has also narrated the fate of some nations, particularly in Surah “The Heights”, it mentions the fate of some nations for their disobedience to the divine message. We must learn the core and crux of these verses. From verse 60 to 100, the stories of some prophets are described with one main point. The Quran says:

Long ago, We sent forth Nuh to his people. He said: ‘Worship Allah, my people, for you have no god but Him. Beware of the torment of a fateful day’. But the elders of his people said: ‘we can see that you are in error.’

The same answer was given to prophets Hud (AS), Saleh (AS), Lot (AS), Shoaib (AS) and Moses (AS). Who rejected the prophets? The high ups. The elites. The moneyed class. The poor and common people accepted the divine message. Similarly, the Chieftains of Makkah like Abu Sufyan, Abu Labab and Abu Jehl opposed the message of the Quran and poor people like Bilal (RA), Abu Zarr Ghaffari (RA), Ammar bin Yasir (RA) and Salman Farsi (RA) embraced Islam. The logic and point of inference is that the upper class is always opportunist, lop-sided, hypocritical and imposturous.

Hazrat Ali (AS) says that a ruler must be in touch with people and must not depend on elite class as they always betray in hard times. It is a great practical wisdom. In the whole world, when a ruler is in hot waters, his associates and adherents who had enjoyed the perks of power leave him and seek shelter under the umbrella of new rulers.

In Pakistan, we see how shamelessly the bureaucracy alters its loyalties on the change of the government. William Shakespeare had said that true love does not alter when finds alteration. The travesty of the matter is that we have totally failed to make a nation. The bureaucracy is neither loyal to nation nor to state and nor to government. It is loyal to its own perks and privileges. This is one of the causes of our destruction and downfall. The Quran has aptly pointed out this point in its verses mentioned above.

The nations suffer for their own faults. The Muslims are ordained not to be divided in to tribes, sects, races and classes. They are ordained to remain united and are asked not to be divided into sects. Unity is a stronghold and safe haven. They will never stumble or falter, if they are united. Unfortunately, the monarchs and Mullahs have divided them. We need enlightened leadership and rational clergy to take us out from the gamut of decadence, division and disruption.

We do what the Quran has prohibited. We are suffering because of monarchs and priests. The Quran condemns these religious self-styled custodians of religion. The retrogressive ecclesiastical mind set is the basic cause of the downfall of the Muslims. These clerics are swindlers and imposters. In the garb of Sufis and spiritual cohorts, they cheat illiterate people.

Jesus Christ challenged the authority of the Jewish rabbis and called them imposters. To date we see Indian Hindu Pundits preaching the bloodshed of Muslims. The Jewish rabbis and the Buddhist Bhikshos of Myanmar are preaching the same demonic cult of killing the Muslims. But what the Muslims are up to? What is their strategy? The Arab Kings are the slaves of America and now have become the lackeys and cronies of Israel too. The way the Palestinians are being massacred by the Israeli forces, it is a challenge for Muslims. Unfortunately, the Muslims lag behind in science and technology and are divided. Until, the Arab monarchs are ousted from the prodigious palaces , the Muslims can neither unite nor progress.

It is the human and democratic duty of all lovers of liberty, whether they are Muslims or non-Muslims to support and succour the forces which are crusading against Kings, dictators and fascists. Kashmir is under siege. The women are being gang raped. The youth is incarcerated and shot dead. UN is least bothered to resolve Palestine and Kashmir issues. The cries of the oppressed Palestinians and Kashmiris fall on deaf ears. A cry in wilderness gets no response. The Muslim rulers are dead and conscienceless. They are saving their own skin. The common Muslims are much perturbed and feel concerned on this plight but are helpless. America, Israel and India are a demonic axis and anti-Islam. Unfortunately, now Saudi Arabia and Arab Emirates have also joined hands with the Satan of our Time.

In the giving situation, a new bloc is a must to end the perfidious designs of the aggressors. Russia, China, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran and Turkey must unite to counter Western terrorism. The hegemony of India and Israel can only be eradicated by the bloc called “Six States Union.” No other way to get rid of the tenacious clutches of oppressors.

An American Muslim’s traumatizing experience with US government surveillance and attempted entrapment

An American Muslim, Malak Shalabi opens up on social media about her traumatizing experience in 2018 with an American spy, US government surveillance and attempted entrapment.

This is her harrowing story.

This is the first time I share this story publicly, because I need this documented and I am no longer afraid.

In 2018, I connected with a former classmate of mine on FB. We had taken a class in 2016 taught by a former FBI agent, who trashed Islam constantly. I was surprised to learn my classmate, “X”, was a convert. I offered to teach him Arabic, as I taught youth & converts at the time.

Our first session in October was ordinary, my friend joined us and I taught him the first few letters of the alphabet. When we walked out to the parking lot, he pointed out that he had recently gotten into an accident and the front of his car was busted.

In December, we met again, and my friend was unable to join so we were alone. He started speaking in a way I have never heard Muslims ordinarily speak. He was inflammatory and making simpleton statements on complex issues like jihad, hijrah, kuffar, and democracy as shirk.

He tried to corner me into answering absolutist questions, and brought up “sheiks” who I know were blacklisted, assassinated, & exiled for their affiliations with terrorism. He knew my background as a student of international affairs & activist, & tried to pin me on those points.

I left the meeting with a very eerie and creepy feeling, and I swore I would never see him again. X sent me content & websites that are known for terrorism propaganda. These sites are tracked. He sent me videos of a Jamaican Imam who was exiled for pledging allegiance to ISIS.

In January 2019, I told him I would not be able to complete teaching him Arabic. He said, that is fine, I actually sorted my passport issues and will be leaving this country to “FIGHT.” He said he was going to Afghanistan and ASKED IF I HAD CONNECTIONS IN PALESTINE.

I immediately told him he was severely misconstruing the scripture of Islam to fit his desires, and that he had to seek professional help. My friend, “Y”, and I referred him to a mosque where the Imam is both a psychologist and learned scholar of Islam.

We agreed to meet on Friday at the mosque, and then rescheduled to Sunday because my car had broken down. On Friday, January 25, 2019 Y and I had done a fundraiser for Syrian refugees. After cleaning up and coming home around 1 am, Y called me crying with her brother on the line.

She told me, “X ran his car into a police station. He hit a cop car and ran toward them with a knife yelling the shahada, saying he was going to kill them. He’s in jail now. He’s in jail he’s in jail he’s in jail. They’re going to get us because we know him. His life is over.”

Y and I fell asleep that night, and many other nights after that, hyperventilating, crying, plagued with guilt, fear and paranoia as to what would happen to us and our families. Wishing we could have done something. Wishing I never met him. Wishing this never happened.

We expected the FBI to knock on our door the next morning, and I immediately started scheduling appointments with attorneys. The first attorney we met with was immediately skeptical of the situation. It turned out that X got out on 100 k bail within a few days.

I started doing more research, and found his LinkedIn that listed his current employer as A SECURITY AGENCY UNDER A GOVERNMENT ADMINISTRATION. He started working there just when we finished our class with the former FBI teacher in 2017.

I did more digging, and found an eBook that mentioned his SPECIFIC SECURITY AGENCY by name and locality as part of a anti-terrorist network model that gathers and shares “threat information” by sending out insurgents into the Muslim community to spy on and entrap men and women.

I also then realized that the news picture of his car after ramming into the cop car looked just like his car when I first saw it in the lot. This easily could have been a staged crime photo since his car was already busted, and the cop car had no showing damage.

I found similar cases online to this one – one where an insurgent was paid to stage running into a cop car. Entrapment is the practice of law enforcement or insurgents/spies staging crimes to rope in some level of “material support”, which can include words of support alone.

Once he was out jail, X began texting me and adding me to groups asking me for WORDS OF SUPPORT. He asked for advice and guidance and support as he was “going through a rough time.” I told him to stop messaging me, and he tried to incite me by calling me a hypocrite and heretic.

Y and I started to be watched, harassed, and followed. Y had a “_ County Security” van that would park in front of her house. A woman with a laptop would snap pictures when anyone would enter or leave the house. I had tinted cars with no tabs parked outside my house.

Y was watched by another car and anonymous person at the mosque. Y saw X’s brother at the gym, and then was followed by his friend in the night. He followed her on a dark road until she called the police, and they arrested him after he admitted to following her.

My mom received text messages mentioning the mosque that X & I attended, asking for my address. I received calls ALL DAY, I heard the click of being recorded, and after I’d say a few words, would cut the line. When I’d call back the number, it would be disconnected. EVERY. TIME.

Y and I were then continuously contacted and approached by people who turned out to be related to X or sent by X, until her and I permanently left that space. We also received information that X’s friend had a “side hustle” from spying on the mosque he attended.

I am writing this because today, I refuse to be scared & paranoid. I was terrified to speak out, and only my close friends know this story. But it is my duty to share this story if it can help even one soul, or one person searching “entrapment” or “staged crime” on Twitter.

I now understand my story to be part of a systemic issue of discriminatory surveillance and targeting of the Muslim community. I hope someone, and anyone can learn from my experience.

We expected the FBI to knock on our door the next morning, and I immediately started scheduling appointments with attorneys. The first attorney we met with was immediately skeptical of the situation. It turned out that X got out on 100 k bail within a few days.

I started doing more research, and found his LinkedIn that listed his current employer as A SECURITY AGENCY UNDER A GOVERNMENT ADMINISTRATION. He started working there just when we finished our class with the former FBI teacher in 2017.

I did more digging, and found an eBook that mentioned his SPECIFIC SECURITY AGENCY by name and locality as part of a anti-terrorist network model that gathers and shares “threat information” by sending out insurgents into the Muslim community to spy on and entrap men and women.

I also then realized that the news picture of his car after ramming into the cop car looked just like his car when I first saw it in the lot. This easily could have been a staged crime photo since his car was already busted, and the cop car had no showing damage.

I found similar cases online to this one – one where an insurgent was paid to stage running into a cop car. Entrapment is the practice of law enforcement or insurgents/spies staging crimes to rope in some level of “material support”, which can include words of support alone.

Once he was out jail, X began texting me and adding me to groups asking me for WORDS OF SUPPORT. He asked for advice and guidance and support as he was “going through a rough time.” I told him to stop messaging me, and he tried to incite me by calling me a hypocrite and heretic.

Y and I started to be watched, harassed, and followed. Y had a “_ County Security” van that would park in front of her house. A woman with a laptop would snap pictures when anyone would enter or leave the house. I had tinted cars with no tabs parked outside my house.

Y was watched by another car and anonymous person at the mosque. Y saw X’s brother at the gym, and then was followed by his friend in the night. He followed her on a dark road until she called the police, and they arrested him after he admitted to following her.

My mom received text messages mentioning the mosque that X & I attended, asking for my address. I received calls ALL DAY, I heard the click of being recorded, and after I’d say a few words, would cut the line. When I’d call back the number, it would be disconnected. EVERY. TIME.

Y and I were then continuously contacted and approached by people who turned out to be related to X or sent by X, until her and I permanently left that space. We also received information that X’s friend had a “side hustle” from spying on the mosque he attended.

I am writing this because today, I refuse to be scared & paranoid. I was terrified to speak out, and only my close friends know this story. But it is my duty to share this story if it can help even one soul, or one person searching “entrapment” or “staged crime” on Twitter.

I now understand my story to be part of a systemic issue of discriminatory surveillance and targeting of the Muslim community. I hope someone, and anyone can learn from my experience.

On 11 March 1992, The Washington Post covered a leak story about the new US military policy that called for military action against any nation that would attempt to challenge the leadership of the US particularly in the Middle East.

The foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia and China met in Riyadh on 21 July 1990 and established diplomatic relations for the first time through the efforts of Pakistan.

The emerging Saudi-Pakistan-China alliance gave serious anxiety to the US since they could never afford the next superpower to make inroads into the oil rich region. Saudis had already bought a small number of missiles from China in mid-1980s.

When the missiles had reached KSA, the then US President Ronald Reagan threatened the Saudis and gave three options:

“Ship the missiles back to China, dismantle them temporarily and negotiate terms for the use, or allow US monitors to be stationed at the launching site”.

To the surprise of the US, King Fahad refused all three demands.

In less than two weeks after the establishment of diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and China, Iraq’s President Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait.

Saddam’s rationale of invading Kuwait was that it was originally part of Iraq during the Ottoman Empire. Kuwait was carved out of Iraq after the British defeated the Ottomans.

Saddam was correct in his assertions as this wasn’t the first time imperialist forces carved out new territories in their geopolitical interests. For instance, Hong Kong and Taiwan were parts of China before they became independent protectorates of Britain and the US respectively.

But Saddam’s invasion of Kuwait was inadvertently providing the United States an opportunity to finally fulfil the dreams of Churchill, Roosevelt and Harold Ickes who always aspired to control the Middle East oil.

Just days after the invasion, Dick Cheney (defence secretary) and Paul Wolfowitz (under secretary of defence for policy) made plans to evict Iraqi forces. As per the plan, the US forces would assemble in Saudi Arabia for the protection of KSA followed by a plan to liberate Kuwait.

Once Dick Cheney and his team arrived in Jeddah, they shared satellite photographs with King Fahad as per which the Iraqi tanks deployed on the Saudi border were ready to invade Saudi Arabia.

The Saudis despite being the largest producer of oil did not have the military power to fight the Iraqi military. King Fahad allowed the Americans to establish bases in Saudi Arabia who did not leave for the next 13 years.

To everyone’s surprise, The Chinese Science Monitor revealed in 2002 that the satellite photographs that showed Iraqi tanks on the border of Saudi Arabia were either doctored or taken from places other than the Iraqi-Saudi border by the US.

According to Jean Heller of the St. Petersburg Times in Florida, her news organization acquired two commercial Soviet satellite images of the same area that showed the deployment of Iraqi forces. Pentagon had claimed that up-to 250,00 Iraqi troops were ready to invade Saudi Arabia.

The images the St. Petersburg Times had acquired were shown to a former analyst of Defence Intelligence Agency who specialized in desert warfare. He pointed out the US build-up – jet fighters standing wing-tip to wing-tip at Saudi bases – but was surprised to see almost no signs of Iraqi forces. According to Heller:

“That [Iraqi build-up] was the whole justification for Bush sending troops in there, and it just didn’t exist….To this day, the Pentagon photographs of the Iraqi troop build-up remain classified”.

It can be concluded that the only goal of US administration in 1990-91 was to put permanent military boots on Saudi soil so they could control the energy resources of the Middle East and could counter the emerging Saudi-Pak-China alliance.

The Ottomans ruled the contemporary Israel and Palestine for 400 years after their occupation of the land in 1517. Their legacy is still felt today in several aspects.

The legal system of Israel, the religious court records (the sijjil), the land registry (the tapu) and a few architectural gems all testify to the significance of the Ottomans’ presence.

Suleiman the Magnificent who is known as Sultan to the Arabs and Caesar to the Christians never visited Jerusalem but, regarding himself as the second Solomon, he rebuilt most of the and gates that we see today.

During the Ottoman rule, less than 5 percent of the population was Jewish, probably 10 to 15 percent were Christian and remaining were Muslims.

“The exact percentage of Jews prior to the rise of Zionism is unknown. However, it probably ranged from 2 to 5%. According to Ottoman records, a total population of 462,465 resided in 1878 in what is today Israel/Palestine. Of this number, 403,795 (87 percent) were Muslim, 43,659 (10 percent) were Christians and 15,011 (3 percent) were Jewish”

The official website of the Israeli foreign ministry relating to the history of Palestine since the sixteenth century states: “Following the Ottoman Conquest in 1517, the Land was divided into four districts, attached administratively to the province of Damascus and ruled from Istanbul. At the outset of the Ottoman era, some 1,000 Jewish families lived in the country, mainly in Jerusalem, Nablus (Schechem), Hebron, Gaza, Safed (Tzfat) and the villages of the Galilee. The community was composed of descendants of Jews who had always lived in the Land as well as immigrants from North Africa and Europe. Orderly government, until the death (1566) of Sultan Suleiman the magnificent, brought improvements and stimulated Jewish immigration. Some newcomers settled in Jerusalem but the majority went to Safed where, by the mid-16th century, the Jewish population had risen to about 10,000, and the town had become a thriving textile centre.”

Pakistan ran an active military intelligence program from 1992 until 1995 while the west continued it’s appeasement of the Serbian forces.

The military support was supervised by the then DG ISI, General Javed Nasir, a die hard patriot whose vision was to support the oppressed anywhere in the world. The program distributed and coordinated the systematic supply of arms to The Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina during the war.

Nasir confesses that despite the UN ban on supplying arms to the besieged Bosnians, he successfully airlifted sophisticated antitank guided missiles which turned the tide in favour of Bosnian Muslims and forced the Serbs to lift the siege.

Pakistan declared in a meeting of Muslim countries at Geneva in July 1995 that the UN arms embargo was illegal. Farooq Leghari, then president of Pakistan, stated that ‘the Western policy of appeasement of the Serbian aggressors is not going to pay.’

Pakistan declared that it would provide weapons to the Bosnian government in spite of the UN arms embargo. Pakistan became the fourth largest contributor of troops to the 36000 UN peacekeeping forces in Bosnia and pledged to keep its soldiers there to protect Bosnian Muslims and confront the Serbs while France and other countries wanted to withdraw their troops for the safety of their soldiers. On July 26 1995, Pakistan sent another contingent of 180 troops to Bosnia for deployment under UN command.

It was the third Pakistani contingent to go to Bosnia during that month even though one Pakistani officer Capt Manzoor Ahmad of the Air Defense Command was among the more than 300 UN peacekeepers being held hostage by the Serb forces near Sarajevo.

Cees Wiebes in his book, “Intelligence and the War in Bosnia, 1992–1995” wrote that “Pakistan definitely defied the UN ban on supply of arms to the Bosnian Muslims and sophisticated anti-tank guided missiles were airlifted by the ISI to help Bosnians fight the Serbs.”

John R. Schindler in his book ‘Unholy Terror: Bosnia, al-Qa’ida, and the Rise of Global Jihad’ wrote that ‘Pakistan’s notorious Inter-Services Intelligence Directorate violated the UN embargo and provided Bosnian Muslims with sophisticated antitank guided missiles.’

During the height of the conflict, Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry evacuated many endangered Bosnians from the conflict areas who immigrated to Pakistan. The small nature of the program was mentioned and highlighted in the Pakistani drama, Alpha Bravo Charlie in 1998.
