Thomas Luebker's Amiga-Imager generates boot images on Mac OS for three different platforms: unmodified Amigas, those with a PiStorm turbo card and the MiSTer. The RDB images (in the case of the Raspberry Pi, as an SD card image with an additional FAT32 boot partition) also include the corresponding RTG and network configuration.

Took a day to track down an interesting issue: an absolute ton of noise coming out of the `gscart` SCART switch. It was bad going through the RetroTINK 5X and intolerable coming through the RetroTINK 4K. Started with the SNES, swapped out cables and it was still there. Then copied the ROM and save state over to the MiSTer and saw the same exact issue with analog output from the MiSTer.
It was weird because the SNES is RGB modded via Voultar's SNESRGB and should have some absolutely pristine RGB out, and the MiSTer should also have some great RGB output via the Saturn RGB output on the back. However, after some fiddling and upgrading the MiSTer: it was the USB power going to the `gscart` switch.
I was using the USB outputs on the power strip attached to the AV cart. After moving it to a known quality USB power adapter, the noise was gone.
TL,DR: If you have a `gscart` switch, make sure you supply it with some quality power otherwise you're gonna have a bad day.

I'm in a most excellent mood! A long long time ago, I got a fancy #MiSTer #FPGA. For those unaware, this device emulates everything from old #Zilog #Z80 systems to low end PCs and arcade machine - or rather, it doesn't exactly emulate them - it sort of becomes the old legacy hardware itself, meaning you'll have nearly clock cycle perfect emulation.
Anyhoo, I also got a #MT32pi for it, which is a thing that emulates old #Roland #MIDI hardware that nobody back in the day could afford. Many of the early DOS titles support this, and it's an absolute joy to listen to. There's a whole sad story to the MT32-Pi project, but that's for another day.
Sadly, it never worked in my setup - until today! I had it for years and years but finally I put in the effort - a lot of measuring and some soldering and now it actually works! Delicious music in old #DOS games! I thought the thing was for sure fried, so I couldn't be happier!

A friend of my be gifted me a #Commodore 386SX-16 system with a #PC50 III motherboard. It's been en a long time since I've messed with vintage PCs outside of the #MiSTer FPGA so this was an interesting hands-on project that brought a lot of lessons.
First of all, if you're only going to run #MSDOS on it, it's actually a decent machine. I've always been more of a tools and development guy than a gamer, meaning more Norton Utilities and Borland C and a little less Civilization and Defender of the Crown. I did enjoy shooters like #Wolfenstein3D, dungeon crawlers like #EyeOfTheBeholder and #LucasArts adventures like #MonkeyIsland, #ManiacMansion and #ZakMcKracken.
Anyway, I digress. The machine was heavily yellowed on the outside but near spotless on the inside. Featuring a 1.44MB floppy drive, 4MB RAM and a 40MB Seagate HDD, this thing could potentially run most of the apps I grew up using. Now if I could only expand the storage options a bit.. 😜

As an idea for the next #HomeCon (Homecomputer & Console Meetup) i came up with setting up an Atari ST #MiSTer setup, which runs Cubase 3.1 and controls a MIDI device, preferrably a synthesizer or a groovebox. I did some research and found, that with some USB-To-MIDI adapters it should be possible to simulate the original MIDI interface using the MiSTer UART interface. i'm curious how this works out!
