  2. I really want to move us to S3-compatible storage but it looks like a pain to migrate existing files since it requires (to my knowledge) manually editing the file locations in the database. Has someone built a script or tool to handle this for misskey/sharkey?

Misskey and the Misskey forks (ex: Firefish, Sharkey, etc) seem to also be prone to their storage drives filling with:

    • logs
    • npm cache
    • yarn cache

    RE: mastodon.social/@reiver/114019

The number one cause of Fediverse servers crashing seems to be the storage drives filling up with cached Fediverse user data — posts, profiles, avatar images, header images, etc.

But, Misskey and the Misskey forks (ex: Firefish, Sharkey, etc) also have an additional challenge that fills up their storage drives —

  15. CW: fedi software meta question

okay hi so i need a senior fediverse software librarian to help me 🥺

    we are currently running
#sharkey. this was because #firefish and #iceshrimp had their whole fiasco which i wanted to stay clear of, but we still wanted fedi software with:
    - reasonable standards compliance
    - active development
    - features that are actually fun (emotes, cat mode, all the
    #misskey joys)
    - PWA for mobile
    - responsive ux and at least somewhat aesthetically pleasing ui

    have recently seen the name
#cherrypick pop up in global timeline & used by some of our friends.

and uh, the question is: what do? how do the different *key forks compare? and why do they exist?

re-{post,blog,note}s and rambles very welcome, the more opinions and details the merrier :)

i know nothing about any drama, except for the fact that when projects overlap it either happens or has happened
also, is this how you're supposed to use hashtags?

    #misskeyadmin #sharkeyadmin

  16. For Misskey/CherryPick/Sharkey users: If you don’t know where the prohibited words feature is, this is accessible under Control Panel > Moderation.

Put the mentioned words from the first post in a regex like this (delimit with a pipe)

    /(<pattern>|<pattern>)/

Only use prohibited words feature to deal with SPAM. it will reject messages that contain these words and phrases, and prevents users from posting anything with this phrase.

  17. RE: Kuroneko incident

#fediadmins are advised to temporarily disable sign-ups for now, or implement some anti-spam measure to limit signups to not get spammed.
    Currently they are targeting
#misskey and #mastodon, but other #activitypub servers may soon be targeted.

More details will be posted soon. Stay tuned.

  18. @[email protected] Anyway, the pattern seems that they are using the same string on every post. So I rather recommend you filter out their Discord invite over that string. #fediblock #fediadmin #fedadmins #mastodadmin #misskeyadmin

  19. @[email protected] Don't. That's literally "Konnichiwa"

    Literally just Hello in Japanese.

find a better string to filter from lmfao
    #fediblock #fediadmin #fedadmins #mastodadmin #misskeyadmin

  20. Affected instances AFAIK:
    - cunnyborea.top
    - m.mxin.moe
    - social.cutefunny.net

(honestly some of these instances could get their own
    #fediblock entry by themselves, but now's not the time) #fediblock #fediadmin #fedadmins #mastodadmin #misskeyadmin

  21. There's currently an incident involving some kind of Japanese skids who call themselves the "Kuroneko" organization.

They seem to be attempting to commit DDoS attacks on Misskey servers, constantly creating new accounts on compromised instances and spamming advertisements for their hacking services.

Admins who are federating with these compromised servers, while they might not get compromised themselves, may be affected by the sheer amount of traffic volume from their spam.

    Admins are advised to
#fediblock or temporarily stop sending requests to affected servers for now, if they don't want to get secondhand DoS'd

IMO I never expected them to be Japanese out of all things, kinda funny. They also host VOICEROID and VOICEVOX TTS bots on their Discord apparently. Kinda a weird flex I guess.

But yeah, probably just a bunch of skids.
