  6. This Is Why I Look Like I’ve Seen Things

People love to ask why I look tired. Like it’s a mystery. Like I’m up all night partying in 1997. I’m not. I’m pinned to a mattress by 300 pounds of fur and feelings. These photos? One night. One completely normal, deeply stupid night. First problem: personal space is a myth. I fall asleep in a reasonable human position. I wake up folded like a lawn chair because a Belgian Malinois has decided my face is a pillow. Not near my face. On it. Direct eye-to-snout contact. Breath hot […]

  7. The Dog Who Judges You Back

Aldo is what happens when you take a miniature pincher, give him zero respect for physics, and wrap him in the confidence of a biker who survived the 90s without a helmet. He’s small, sure. So is a live grenade. Size is irrelevant when the attitude shows up first and demands rent. He wears a hoodie like it’s a statement, not a garment. This dog doesn’t get cold. He judges the temperature and decides it’s wrong. Aldo has eyes that say he knows your secrets and a posture that suggests […]

  8. How a Ten-Pound Dog Beat My Burnout

What positive events have taken place in your life over the past year? This past year has basically been one long shift with no clock-out button. Work, work, and hey look… more work. I swear if I ever meet the person who invented productivity culture, we’re gonna have words. Fun took one look at my schedule, laughed, and walked straight out the door without even leaving a note. I’ve seen Bigfoot more recently than I’ve seen a real day off. But then, right when the universe seemed […]

  13. Working on my New Testament final project from the recliner (feet grounded on a stepstool because anything else = instant nap 😴). Chronic fatigue + occipital neuralgia means this setup is the only way I can focus.

Of course, my dog Squeaker needed his kennel out here so he could see me. He was already in his "pocket" bed, so I bent down to put him in… and Rain, one of our big dogs, took the opportunity to lick me right in the mouth. Twice.

Third try = success. Mom and I laughed so hard. Squeaker's settled now, Rain's proud of herself, and I'm back to writing.

  14. Good morning from Tilly! She’s a 3 year old #LabradorRetriever / #MiniaturePinscher mix at #NevinsFarm who’s full of fun, energy, and love. Tilly’s one of many dogs looking for her new family during this week’s pay-what-you-can adoptathon.

Tilly’s looking for adopters who are excited to help her continue training for calmer behaviors, but she loves to work for treats and is already learning a lot in the shelter! 1/

  15. I made some dog food for the first time! Turke, rice, veggies, and blueberries. They actually ate it! I have been struggling with my mini pins because they won't eat what I give them. I wanted to see how much it cost to cook them food... kind of a lot, really, but I don't know that it's more expensive than them turning their noses up at kibble. 🤷 Any tips for me? Please let me know! I am feeding each #MiniaturePinscher 1/3 a cup twice a day, which is what I gave them for their regular food too.

  16. Some of you may remember my Go Fund Me that I started for my #dog Albie. I did NOT make enough to cover his surgery costs on his eye. I surrendered him to a groomer/shelter, and they had his eye surgery done right away. I'll never get to hold him again, but I'm happy that his swollen, painful eye was removed for him. I love this dog about as much as you can love anyone. It's crushing me. #DogsOfMastodon #MiniaturePinscher This is my goodest boy.

  17. This is my #dog, Oliver. He is very stout for a #MiniaturePinscher, and he's my service dog. His brother and sister aren't built as solidly as Oliver. #DogsOfMastodon
