"I found that sample you wanted tested for Hep E"

"A? Oh, aye"

Returning from clinic with a fudge donut (donated by a patient) in one hand, and a bone fragment for culture (donated by a different patient) in the other.

Look, I'm not saying I can be bribed, but if you have cake on your ward then you're going to get a much more detailed analysis of your patients' antibiotic plans, whether you like it or not.

Local Professor is covering on call today. This includes authorising culture results, but I've asked him to leave the urine isolates so that I can train a senior lab scientist to do these independently.
Literally told him not to take the piss.
