Dream feature for #Mastodon...
Besides "mute" and "block", there should be a "digest this user" option. [1] It would only show them once a day in your timeline, showing you "<User> tooted 47 times today", and you'd click through and see them all in a virtual thread-like view.
For those users who you like, but who post a million tiny things each day so they take up a huge chunk of your timeline - you don't want to block or mute them, but it's just Too Damn Much sometimes.
[1] As in "message digest", like on mailing lists. Millenials and gen-Zers, ask your grandparents what a mailing list was. Not like "turn this user into nutrients and absorb them into my tissues".
