Weiß die #medbubble direkt was?

Da geht noch was.

  14. Super interesting podcast from the Prolonged Field Care Collective discussing #medevac work in the context of #ukraine

Air evac can't be effectively used in Ukraine! #TCCC guidelines based on #Iraq or #Afghanistan experience need to be updated. Casualty evacuations can take many, many hours under tank and artillery fire.

Front line combat medics need prolonged field care training.

This is worth an hour of your time.

  15. A Guide to Haemostatic Gauzes:

    medtree.co.uk/blog/a-guide-to-

This article is a couple of years old now, but still provides a good overview of the different types of clotting agents used in #haemostatic gauzes; chitosan vs kaolin. There’s been a proliferation of new haemostatic #gauze products on the market lately, e.g. from #RhinoRescue, but this article remains worth reading.

  17. Finally the remainder of items ordered a few weeks ago from #RhinoRescue have arrived.

They'll be sent into our logistics network for onward delivery this week.

These specific items will be used by a #Polish volunteer medical team working in #Ukraine

There's of course always the opportunity to further support our work via our Open Collective page:

  18. CW: How not to secure and carry a tourniquet. A now deceased soldier, allegedly Russian, attached a tourniquet to his body armour with cable ties. When severely wounded in what looks like his femoral artery, he was unable to use the tourniquet easily within reach. Video shows deceased solider and results of severe bleeding. Face is blurred.
  19. Interesting #podcast from the College of Remote and Offshore Medicine (CoRoM).

A discussion with Dr Haakon Asak and Bjørn Eidissen from the #Norwegian military. They run the aeromedical evacuation team for #EU missions. They provide weekly evacuations for the #Ukrainian military and civilian casualties. Historically, they have provided evacuation flights for the #Turkey earthquake victims and many deployments to the Middle East.

  22. CW: Evacuations under fire can be slow and dangerous work. Video shows a wounded Ukrainian soldier. No open wounds. Not gruesome. Some blood visible.

This video shows the effort it takes to carry a wounded soldier with full gear, across an open field, on a portable field stretcher.

First seen on Yigal Levin's Telegram channel (t.me/yigal_levin), with the text, "Frida Ukraine, an Israeli-Ukrainian medical volunteer mission, arrived in Kherson."

  24. CW: WARNING: Video is explicit with scenes of death and severe combat wounds.

Continuing from the earlier video posted, the same #combat #medic treats a second severely wounded soldier and evacuates them. This is frontline medical work. Medics putting themselves in constant danger to save the lives of others.

  25. CW: WARNING: Video is explicit with scenes of severe combat wounds

The #combat #medic in this video uses five tourniquets on one wounded soldier. This is why there is never enough #tactical meds in conflict zones and also why we continue our fund raising work.

Apparently the wounded soldiers survived, but the medic was also hit.

This is maybe not the way to do it, but I'm at my wits end and I know I follow several doctors, nurses and other medical professionals here.

Here's the deal - I have debilitating muscle spasms in my legs, torso, feet, toes and occasionally hands and arms, as well as some sort of spasm issue that occasionally affects swallowing and bladder control. I lose my voice from time to time, but not in a laryngitis sort of way. It affects my sleep and I'm terrified of having a spasm in public..I had one yesterday at a friend's house. It's embarrassing and terrifying and I'm worried I'm going to fall over in public sometimes.

At this point I take a prescription muscle relaxant, but my doctor has told me there is no real way to know what causes muscle spasms and I'll have to learn to live with it. 1/
