Efforts are underway to develop a similar South Bank Bridge on the other side of the river to fly over the commuter rail tracks near North Station and finally connect the gap in the Esplanade paths.

We traveled over the North Bank Bridge from Cambridge to Charlestown. The bridge and park were a $26m project as mitigation for the Big Dig project that surrounds it, and it opened in 2012 using funds from the Great Recession American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

DCR’s contractors have closed the Morrissey Blvd sidewalk on the northbound side from Freeport Street so they can build the new #NeponsetTrail extension boardwalk. Please use the sidewalk on the southbound side instead. We will try to find out how long this will be closed. #Boston #MassTrails
