We just learned that #marinescotland, in conjunction with the agricultural department are launching a national plan to replace synthetic fibres that are overwhelmingly used in marine businesses with natural ones. They declared: "Despite the pressure from all the plastic manufacturers that Scotland is proud of, we decided that the #health of #localcommunities and the survival of the #ocean was our priority and we will be totally phasing out #plastic from marine industries with Scottish products".

@sinabhfuil the situation is the same in Scotland. #MarineScotland is supposed to both control the industry and promote it. Only recently that the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency #SEPA did take over some part of the #aquaculture #pollution assessment.
