  1. It was cool and wet at yesterday’s weekly protest. Only around 25 of us showed up. Mostly the same folks who also turned out on the coldest days last winter. We debated whether to go but then I remembered Memorial Day commemorates those who made the ultimate sacrifice to preserve our freedom. On this weekend making a very small sacrifice to resist the slide into fascism seemed a fitting tribute to all those who gave so much more in fighting back previous bouts of authoritarianism.

  2. Yesterday’s protest in #Mamaroneck was marked by many crescendos of supportive horn honking. Amid the support we had a hat trick of emphatic middle fingering. First from a rear seated adult male who leaned into it with an accompanying verbal “Fuck You!” Second from the driver of an Escalade who took both hands off the wheel to give the rare two handed bird flick. Third from a hand thrust through the open sun roof of a passing SUV. Cultists apparently don’t appreciate criticism of Dear Leader.

  3. How to transform our growth-oriented wasteful unsustainable communities into delightful sustainable life-nurturing entities?

Using Google Earth I was able to measure the area covered by parking lots in my little village of #Mamaroneck. Just covering these lots with solar panels would go a long ways towards making my community more sustainable and pleasant.

Add a wind turbine out in the sound, battery storage, and more energy efficient homes and the village would need vastly less fossil fuels.

  4. Another Saturday afternoon in #Mamaroneck and another rally for truth, justice, democracy and decency. In other words, another anti-Trump protest. Lots of supportive honking and hand gestures from passing motorists and only a few middle fingers and screams of fealty for the tangerine terror. I was “interviewed” for a student film project about why I protest. Not my thing but I was reasonably satisfied with what I said. We had a visit from a drone which was a little annoying, as one wonders why?

  5. Some interesting aspects to yesterday’s weekly pro democracy protest in #Mamaroneck. We had the Walkabout Clearwater Chorus lead us in singing a few protest songs, a great new banner, and our first counter-protest group, such as it was. A group of 5 or so teenage boys brought a Trump flag and set up adjacent to our group. They were not aggressive, and mostly we didn’t interact, although a few older women from our group did try to engage them in friendly conversation, without much success.

  6. Wonderful to have a spell of warmer weather as spring approaches. My thoughts turn to gardening and puttering around outside. Unfortunately the lawn services thoughts are turned to getting their gas-powered leaf blowers and lawn mowers tuned up for another season of mowing and blowing with the accompanying noise and air pollution. Another year and the ongoing battle to get the village of #Mamaroneck to actually enforce its ban on gas-powered leaf blowers continues.

  7. We had a good turnout at yesterday’s #Mamaroneck anti-fascist protest. Lots of support from passersby on a day Trump decided to go to war with Iran. We did have one screamer, a 30 something male passenger who leaned out the window, took a deep breath, and screamed “Go Fuck Yourselves!”. I’m afraid with the warmer weather the screamers are back. One way to view to screamers is as hit and runners. They belt out their verbal assault and then quickly drive away, gloating in having so owned the libs.

  8. Weather here in #Mamaroneck at 5am this morning. Blizzard like conditions expected for the rest of the morning.

  9. The cold spell is finally breaking here in #mamaroneck. Central heating really is a most wonderful invention.

  10. Our little weekly #Mamaroneck Saturday protest for democracy, decency, truth and justice is starting on its second year today. Every week for the past 52 weeks a group of us has gathered to stand up against Trump’s increasingly overt fascism. We’ve gathered in rain and snow, in extreme heat and frigid cold, with much support from passing motorists, and relatively few demonstrations of disrespect and disagreement. We come away each week reenergized and recommitted to building better communities.

  11. Another 5 days of sub freezing temperatures ahead of us here in #Mamaroneck. In more ways than one it is the winter of our miscontent.

  12. Yesterday was the 51st consecutive Saturday protest in my little village of #Mamaroneck. It was cold but not nearly as cold as last week. A good turnout (~100) for the hour of protest and short memorial service for Alex Pretti. Passing drivers were VERY supportive, the most I can remember. A stylishly dressed woman passenger in a high-end AUDI SUV casually raised her leather-gloved right hand and expressed her disdain. I’d love to know what poisonous thoughts are bouncing around in her brain.

  13. Miserable conditions here in #Mamaroneck but we had 300+ turn out for our regular Saturday protest plus maybe another 100 for the 15 minute candlelight vigil for Renee Good at the end of the normal hour. Our congressional representative George Latimer showed up along with our state senator Shelley Mayer. The mood was somber but positive. We had only one Trumper role down their window and yell out their fealty to their cult leader, so I suppose that is one advantage to protesting in the rain.

  14. Attended the regular Saturday anti fascist rally/protest in #Mamaroneck. We are coming up on a year of doing these, without missing a Saturday. There was a lot of support from passing drivers yesterday, no doubt related to the Venezuelan invasion. One passenger of a car yelled at us to go home, as if our community is not our home. What I think he meant was the authoritarian demand to go to your room and get out of my sight. Picture below is from last Saturday’s very cold and snowy gathering.

  15. Attended the regular Saturday afternoon pro-democracy rally in #Mamaroneck. It was a cold grey day, it had snowed about four inches the day before, and only around 20 of us braved the weather. Traffic was light, probably because of the snow, but we had the usual mix of mostly supportive drivers with a few folks feeling the need to exercise their middle finger. I refer to those who continue to show up in the depths of winter as Valley Forgers.

  16. Participated in yesterday’s weekly anti-fascism rally in #Mamaroneck. We had a surprisingly good turnout for a cold December afternoon. Driver reactions were typical, with most people expressing support and a few Trumpers exhibiting their usual cultish MAGA infatuation.

Was talking with spouse about why we protest and whether it has any effect. We do it for our own sanity, to build resistance to Trump, and mostly to remind ourselves and others that fascism and evil should not be normalized.

  17. Participated in the regular #Mamaroneck Saturday anti-fascist rally. About the same as the almost 45 other times we’ve gathered to protest here in 2025. There were 30 or so of us yesterday. Passing drivers who showed any reaction were mostly supportive but we had a number of vociferous MAGA folks who really wanted us to know how much they think we’re assholes and how great their cult leader is. We’ve become used to this behavior but the vitriol seemed to be a little more manic yesterday.

  18. Catchy protest song by Vox Populi that I first heard last Saturday at #Mamaroneck’s weekly anti-fascist rally. voxpopulisphere.com/2025/10/12

  19. Almost all the leaves are down now, which is good as we are expecting a wintry mix tomorrow. It’s also good because the *$#@% gas-powered leaf blowers will soon be hung up for the winter. My village of #Mamaroneck has a gas-powered leaf blower ban that is almost completely ignored as enforcement is practically nonexistent. Are there communities out there with bans that are actively being enforced?

  20. Off to our weekly #Mamaroneck protest against the corrupt fascist regime. It’s getting cold out there so our numbers are likely to be down, but those who make it help send a strong message about standing up for democracy. No new sign this week but I hope to incorporate the image below into next week’s sign.

  21. New sign ready for tomorrow’s regular #Mamaroneck protest against the swamp creature regime.

  22. Attended the weekly one hour Saturday protest in #Mamaroneck yesterday. We noticed some heightened negative responses from Trump supporters driving by. A number shook their red MAGA hats at us. Others yelled variations of Go Trump out their open windows. A humorous instance was a guy driving by giving us the finger until his female passenger reached out and pulled his hand down. The vast majority of responses remained positive but the aggressive defensiveness from the Trumpies stood out.

  23. New protest sign ready for tomorrow’s regular Saturday pro-democracy demonstration in #Mamaroneck.

  24. Participated in the regular weekly anti-fascist protest in #Mamaroneck yesterday. Nothing unusual occurred but a well-turned out stylish white woman in a high-end white Mercedes SUV, who drove by disdainfully giving us the finger, made an impression. We protesters have a wide range of ages and occupations and issues but she casually dismissed us all with her effortless flick and went on with her cosseted life, obliviously secure in her privileges and imagined superiority. She sure showed us.

  25. New protest sign ready for a work out tomorrow at the regular #Mamaroneck resistance rally.

  26. Latest protest sign. Leaned largely alliterative on this one. Will give it a spin at #Mamaroneck’s weekly Trump regime protest tomorrow.

  27. Another Saturday another protest in #Mamaroneck. Light turnout, between 50 and 60 of us. Given how recently Charlie Kirk was murdered I suspect many were a little leery of coming out this week. We certainly were but felt it was important to go. We did choose signs that were on the more positive side. It turned out to be fine, in fact better than some recent weeks. I didn't see anyone give us the finger and there were only a few thumbs down, with the usual lots and lots of supportive honks.
