"A warning I constantly make: as climate activists, we must denounce how frames of national sovereignty/interest are used not only to advance fossil fuel operations, but also to persecute and slander climate justice points and advocates.
“cross-verification of filings made by the remitters abroad indicates that the funds were actually intended to promote the agenda of the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty (FF-NPT) within India,”
India is treating a peaceful treaty initiative as a security threat and judicial threat.
As one of the champions of the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty initiative, I see this with grave concern. The treaty initiative is careful, follows diplomatic routes and intends to help countries with just transition and prosperity beyond fossil fuels. The point is to cooperate, not threaten.
The Indian government also seems to be pursuing routes similar to Trump’s slandering of NGOs and philanthropy involved in climate (which he almost managed to dismantle last year). To target climate consultants getting money from NGOs that also get money from specific funders is a big leap."

Terrible: Persecution & slander against Harjeet Singh / Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty (FF-NPT) and other climate activists

"A warning I constantly make: as climate activists, we must denounce how frames of national sovereignty/interest are used not only to advance fossil fuel operations, but also to persecute and slander climate justice points and advocates.
“cross-verification of filings made by the remitters abroad indicates that the funds were actually intended to promote the agenda of the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty (FF-NPT) within India,”
India is treating a peaceful treaty initiative as a security threat and judicial threat.
As one of the champions of the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty initiative, I see this with grave concern. The treaty initiative is careful, follows diplomatic routes and intends to help countries with just transition and prosperity beyond fossil fuels. The point is to cooperate, not threaten.
The Indian government also seems to be pursuing routes similar to Trump’s slandering of NGOs and philanthropy involved in climate (which he almost managed to dismantle last year). To target climate consultants getting money from NGOs that also get money from specific funders is a big leap."
