Aber dass die Entwicklung so dramatisch ist, war mir dann doch nicht bewusst, als ich zum ersten Mal die Zahlen des Statistischen Bundesamtes von 14.10.2025 las:
2023 gab es nur noch 2.980 Buchhandlungen im Einzelhandel. Ein Rückgang um rund 1000 Buchhandlungen im Vergleich zu 2018. Auch die Zahl jener, die im Bucheinzelhandel tätig sind, sank in diesem Zeitraum von fünf Jahren um 19%.

Als ich das Manuskript von "Das Glück der Bücher" schrieb, war mir durchaus die Situation der kleineren und mittelgroßen, inhabergeführten Buchhandlungen geläufig. Ich kenne die Branche seit Jahrzehnten, verfolge die neuesten und langfristigen Entwicklungen, kenne den Buchhandel und die Verlagsbranche nicht nur als Autorin.
