I am thinking of renaming the "DotMatrix" #liquidprompt theme to "Jolly".

This would allow to have a nice logo in the form of the Liquid Prompt's one with an additional Jolly Roger flag. This would also better fit the recommended use of "chevrons" over the "dots" variant. Also, note that the historical Jolly Roger flag was French and showed an hourglass (looking like two chevron characters!).

At #fosdem2024 , Jarek Potiuk made¹ an interesting point about why the #AirFlow pipeline manager uses a semi-declarative approach: semantic scalability. When defining complex pipelines, you often end up generating the declaration with a script, which essentially discards the benefit of the approach.

What's fun is that it is the same reasoning I used in my article about #liquidprompt's design², advocating for its procedural theming approach.

Today's new feature in the lp-dotmatrix set of themes for #liquidprompt: a new theme called "DotVector", which is like DotMatrix, but on only two lines (and actually slower than DotMatrix for the moment).

It's coming close!

(Tomorrow's) improvement on #liquidprompt's DotMatrix theme: shorten the VCS remote name "origin" as a pushpin.

This reduce the (small) risk of mistaking the diff tag and the commit tag, since the remote name appears when a commit is ready to be pushed, and move the branch name on the right, where the diff tag was at the previous command.

By replacing "origin", the shift is only one character long.

Today's improvement on #liquidprompt's DotMatrix theme: add an additional character in front of the last prompt mark when the user has sudo rights.

Will help people with colorblindness to not rely only on a color change.

I just pushed a design-breaking change on #liquidprompt's DotMatrix theme: https://github.com/nojhan/lp-dotmatrix
It puts the branch name in a dark section (instead of a light one previously).
This helps readability in cases where the commit note would be displayed at the same location than the previous diff one, because the newly displayed remote name pushed everything right.
Now, the dark branch name serves as a visual marker to separate both sides, which you can spot immediately.

– design & illustration (souvent vectorielle sous #inkscape),
– code libre (auteur de #CLI : #liquidprompt, #colout, …),
– politique (anar gauchiste, centriste repenti, radicalisé par le macronisme),
– sondages bizarres (neuroatypique tentant de comprendre comment ça marche dans votre tête).
