For the monthly @krita_artists challenge I created this young lion with a cute mouse roaring.
I used pencil brushes for the sketch and for the coloring wet oil colors in #krita.

This is painting by numbers. It's piece for piece a safe-bet recreation of the #LionKing #movie that is so lacking in imagination, creativity and originality that it's tiresome.
The writing is bad, the dialogue is bad and it's generally shoddy made.

Oh, definitely. My cousin worked on Broadway and recently retired. I was so impressed by every show that he did, from Mary Poppins to Cirque du Soleil to Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. All sorts of things. (Mind you, I'm a theater and Broadway nerd as well.) For me, the most impressive one just has to be The Lion King. I was ten years old, and he brought me backstage to meet all the performers and see the props afterward. It was the best time, and I think experiencing that kickstarted my love for the business. The props (and god, the costumes too) were the most impressive things I've ever seen.

Watching old video of the Disney Millennium Celebration last night, I was suddenly struck by the thought I'd seen the mechanisms in those costumes elsewhere.
I was right. Lion King opened on Broadway in 1997. The costumer for the Millennium Celebration had co-designed the Lion King kit with that show's director.
