  1. @futurebird It seems that Google crawlers should be able to detect scraped copies of #Wikipedia being used as #linkfarms and keep them from coming up in search results. Promoting such sites in their search results must be contrary to their business interests. Over 20 years ago, I edited the Wikipedia disambiguation page on Eglantine, to list a nickname I used on an LoTR bulletin board as the second cousin of Pippin’s mother. I thought it was moderately clever and I was curious to see how long it would take to be reverted. It didn’t take long, but while it was up, a massive Russian site scraped it. It’s still there. Hobbits and ants both deserve better. #Wikipedian en-academic.com/dic.nsf/enwiki
