The motivation is to not use cheap cardboard boxes which are ok for postage but are a not great for storing electronic projects long-term. This is for #LILKA kits and I would want the buyers to see what's inside, to not forget about it, to feel good about it, and be able to easily grab the kit, at whichever assembly stage, and put it into their backpack or pocket safely and take to the party/hackerspace/workplace to work on it or show off.
