The Most Luminous Known Fast Blue Optical Transient AT 2024wpp - Unprecedented Evolution and Properties in the Ultraviolet to the Near-Infrared / in the X-rays and Radio: https://arxiv.org/abs/2509.00951 / https://arxiv.org/abs/2509.00952 -> Scientists have found over a dozen luminous blue outbursts — including one called the Cow — that were thought to be unusual supernovae. A new outburst, the brightest yet, suggests otherwise: https://news.berkeley.edu/2025/12/16/whats-powering-these-mysterious-bright-blue-cosmic-flashes-astronomers-find-a-clue/ #LFBOT

An article being published in the journal "Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society" reports the observation of a Luminous Fast Blue Optical Transient (LFBOT), a rare type of cosmic explosion of still uncertain nature which was cataloged as AT2023fhn.
