Podobnie jak w przypadku poprzedniego filmu przedstawiającego premierę MacBooka Pro „Scary Fast”, konferencja „Let Loose” kończy się tagiem „Shot on iPhone” – tym razem z dodatkiem „Edytowano na Macu i iPadzie” oraz drobnym drukiem: „Wszyscy prezenterzy, lokalizacje, oraz nagrania lotnicze nagrane iPhonem.”

Niektóre ujęcia charakteryzowały się mniejszą głębią ostrości, niż jest to możliwe w przypadku kombinacji obiektywu i czujników iPhone’a. Pod koniec wydarzenia zastanawiałem się publicznie na ten temat w Threads. W odpowiedziach spekulowano na temat dodatkowych zestawów obiektywów, ulepszonej wersji trybu kinowego, a może rozmycia tła w poście.

„Let Loose” został nakręcony iPhonem 15 Pro Max, a Apple poinformowało serwis Prolost, że w przypadku kilku ujęć, w których pożądana była niewielka głębia ostrości, obiektywy Panavision były mocowane do iPhone’ów za pomocą opracowanego przez Panavision mocowania zwanego „Lens Relay System.” To urządzenie jest dziś publicznie dostępne do wynajęcia od firmy Panavision, chociaż obecnie nie jest wymienione na jej stronie internetowej.

Taki obiektyw tworzy obraz na płaszczyźnie kliszy lub czujnika, tak zwany „obraz lotniczy”, który rejestruje za pomocą innego systemu soczewek.

Autor Prolost pisze:

Użyłem systemu przekaźników soczewek Frasier firmy Panavision, aby umieścić małe soczewki w ciasnych przestrzeniach na potrzeby wyreżyserowanej przeze mnie reklamy Ruby Tuesday. Frasier to soczewka peryskopowa, jedna fizyczna jednostka zawierająca zarówno soczewkę odbierającą, jak i soczewkę przechwytującą. Nie jestem pewien, czy system Panavision wykorzystuje obraz z lotu ptaka, a nie szlifowane szkło, jak ten zestaw firmy Beastgrip, ale jakość obrazu i nazwa pozwalają mi sądzić, że tak.

Tak czy inaczej, dzięki systemowi Panavision własny obiektyw iPhone’a ponownie fotografuje obraz utworzony przez dowolny obiektyw Panavision. iPhone umożliwia przechwytywanie obrazu, oczywiście w ProRes Apple Log.

Należy pamiętać, że o ile Apple może mieć wysokie wymagania co do sposobu i jakości kręconych przez siebie (niemalże kinowych) materiałów, to przeciętny użytkownik absolutnie nie powinien myśleć o dokupywaniu czegokolwiek pokroju Panavision.

So Apple response to iPad shrinking sales was to introduce even more overpowered & impressive hardware to a still very limited OS 🤷‍♂️

Round two next month I suppose 😅 I still hope for *real* advancements for iPads with next iPadOS:

Must have:
- multi user support
- „real" & better background APIs for apps
- allow for VMs, IDEs and more "pro" apps
- robust filesystem support

Nice to have / next steps:
- (sandboxed) Terminal app with package manager and full UNIX support
