Neighbors who use gas powered leaf blowers are not being good neighbors. Electric ones are much much less bad.
a smaller battery powered "sweeper" makes a whisper of noise comparatively, but is still super useful for clearing grass clippings, gutter cleaning, light snow removal etc. For anything else... well rakes, brooms and shovels are also surprisingly effective!

So I’m not completely against the recent Portland ban of gas powered leaf blowers. But what I find ironic is that they will not target fines at companies who use them, but the home owner who hires them. This is so that small companies do not take the brunt of the fines. Last night at 10:15pm, a neighbour got out his #leafBlower to clear the snow. Did the exact same thing last week.
He's home all day sitting about. Then decides that TEN FIFTEEN is the time to whip out that thing.
Anyways this time I stepped outside in -16 in a sweater (yes I would like a medal thank u) and let him know to cut it out and do this earlier in the day. He was confused.
Next time I'm going to print a copy of the noise bylaw.... Maybe that'll help with the confusion 😎🤠

The season of the #leafBlower is upon us. Neighbours have 3 people on gas leaf blowers attempting to move all the leaves to the front of the house. Bad for the environment, bad for nature, bad for peoples mental stability, bad for our hearing. Do they serve any positive purpose at all. Seems the only thing they do is allow rich people to admire their grass longer.
They should be banned, today.

One of the things about Texas is that once summer starts, pretty much any outdoor activity comes to an end. We're talking humid 100+ F degree days nonstop for 4 months.
So as May rolls along and days start approaching 90 degrees, you feel the need to take advantage of every moment that you can still pleasantly spend outside. Like today.
And then the leaf blowers come out. Constant, droning, pieces of crap polluting not only the air, but the entire sound of an otherwise peaceful neighborhood. What are they even blowing, there are no trees dropping leaves in spring! They blow for hours, from different directions, and I'm somehow triangulated right in the middle.
I hate them so much.
