Getting your wiz-bang satellite onto a launch vehicle (rocket) is not as simple as calling up SpaceX and arranging a date.

There is a network of rideshare brokers, launch aggregators, or mission management providers who have a LOT of power and control over what and when satellites get launched by the launch providers - aka SpaceX etc.

Satellite operators can get squeezed between direct booking with a launch provider and the brokers.
