I've always enjoyed Laibach's schtick of taking the Eastern-European-Goth aesthetic so far that it's bombastically ridiculous while being completely straight-faced and serious about it.
(IMHO: KMFDM is self-aware over-the-top bombastic cheese; Laibach is _deadly serious_ self-aware-but-only-if-you're-paying-attention over-the-top bombastic…and Rammstein is as if someone fed KMFDM and Laibach into a genAI system — derivative spectacle with none of the creativity and humor. When I first heard "Du Hast" my initial reaction was "So what? I've been listening to KMFDM and Laibach for years. There's nothing new here.")

When I was a teen in the 90s, I had this VHS tape, a compilation with Wax Trax Records artists - it starts with two KMFDM songs, there's Laibach, Coil, Ministry, Front Line Assembly, and Psychic TV on it. And it's all on YouTube now. This is a wild watch. This got me really more hooked on industrial music - I was already a KMFDM/Coil fan but I hadn't heard a lot from those other bands, and 🤯 There's some stuff in here too I was a little more meh on (Sister Machine Gun, a real odd one), but wow did I watch this a lot as a kid.

Weird thing about Queen's "One Vision" since they never play it on the radio (despite the ton of Queen's other BIGGER hits they constantly play), the first way I heard this song was Laibach's epic cover of it that was on that Wax Trax VHS I had in the mid 90s. Love it.

I've actually never heard of " #OrientalMetal " before
#Genre was maybe the wrong word to use before (not sure if I should go back and change it?) the geographic label is more just a "category" that overlaps with genre and style.

But that isn't simple either… it could be a language category if not for the English Language band "Emigrate" featuring #RichardKruspe from #Rammstein … and one track from "Oomph!" in English
and it doesn't work as a national category because it features #Nachtmar from #Austria and #Laibach from #Slovenia (both a bit problematic) but at least they didn't include the bands from the USA that use some #German in their lyrics? (often less problematic, just not very German)
maybe "German Metal" works as a "theme"?
I'm not sure if "Arab metal" works as a category at all? Maybe "Arabic metal" including a few related tracks like that "German metal" list?

1/ Ich muss noch mal was zu #Rammstein sagen. In der @tazgetroete ist ein Beitrag des Germanisten Uwe Schütte, der auf andere Germanist*innen schimpft, die einen Sammelband zu Rammstein herausgegeben haben. Er bezeichnet Rammstein als geistige Brandstifter.
Eins kann man wohl sehr klar sagen: Die Rammstein-Leute sind keine #Nazis. Paul Landers war bei der #Firma dabei. Die Firma, #IchFunktion und #Freygang waren Bands mit teils überlappenden Besetzungen. Die Firma hat 1988 in der #Zionskirche auf einem Konzert gespielt, das von West- und Ostberliner Skinheads überfallen wurde. Nach der Wende wurden sie auch noch mal auf einer Raststätte so zusammengeschlagen, dass der Gitarrist ausgestiegen und ausgewandert ist. Fabian Marten war auch bei der Firma ist jetzt Ton- und Lichtmensch bei Rammstein.
#FeelingB hat mit Aljoscha die Schönhauser 5 besetzt. Ein linkes Projekt. Die Firma war beim Eimer mit dabei und beim Tacheles. Das sind alles linke Anarchisten. Die #Wydoks haben 1990 für die #Volkskammer kandidiert.

Rammstein sind genau so wenig Nazis wie #Laibach Nazis sind und #DAF. Das ist vielleicht nicht für alle einfach zu verstehen.
Uwe Schütte erwähnt das Lied Deutschland von Rammstein und erklärt es zum Skandal. Für mich ist es ein ganz klares Bekenntnis zum Antifaschismus. Wer das nicht sieht, will es nicht sehen.
Der ganze Sex-Kram ist eklig und wahrscheinlich ist es das Ende der Band. Aber dann macht sie doch bitte für #metoo fertig und nicht mit ungerechtfertigten Sachen.
