The claim that we need the state to protect us against abusers is a popular and superficial anti-anarchism "gotcha". In reality, as anarchists know, the state jealously guards its monopoly on legitimate violence by *preventing* us from defending ourselves and our families against abuse. Here's an all too typical story about a Colorado mother who was jailed for defying a court order to "reconcile" her children with their father, a former cop who is facing charges of sexually abusing three of his daughters.

@unearth I recall when I went to my grandma as a preteen crying and she said, "quit crying! What? Do you think you're something special? Every woman has a rape story. Stop feeling sorry for yourself".
I just wanted to share that bit because I feel that perhaps the increase has come from afab folks (as this post was in reference to "female") are now feeling like they are able to safely be heard, i hope the next step is allowing amab folks to feel safe with being able to tell their stories
Growing up, I recall a lot of sexual violence from my earliest childhood years. Not just to myself but to others. It was something normalized. Then as a homeless preteen/teen it was still the norm but in different levels of severity.
The truth is, youths have no rights in our society. They often endure unspeakable forms of violence that is silenced. This creates trauma that is handed down like a family heirloom unto others who are expierencing a power imbalance. It is time to end the silence and with doing so, be there for all victims

honestly, I don't believe in literally killing all rapists ever, but that's not what #KYLR has ever meant.
KYLR is stopping rapists and abusers by any means necessary. sometimes rapists become better people, make amends, and leave their victims the fuck alone. cool. that guy can just get jumped instead.
that being said, I don't think KYLR is a bad slogan that needs to be more literal, because the only people asking for that are apologists and fauxminists and also fuck you.
