Oh, I LOVE Uncontrollably Fond, and was impatiently waiting for Genie Make A Wish to see #KimWooBin and #BaeSuzy together again. I definitely got frustrated by the revenge story, but I was totally drawn in by the characters and the actors who played them. I rewatched it, as well as #TheHeirs, to see young Kim Woo Bin in action. I'm also working my way through all of the shows with Bae Suzy, as well.

Ooh, thanks for alerting me to another drama with #KimWooBin I would watch an entire series of him washing dishes or performing some other mundane task. He was spectacular in The Heirs, a HS series I really enjoy. Amazing face acting and so easy on the eyes!

Ugh, I was very fond of the title, All That You Wish For and now it's become Genie, Make A Wish. Do they have a team of professionals trying to dumb down show titles?! Anyway, it stars Bae Suzy and Kim Woo Bin so I've been impatiently waiting for it to air!

Delivering chicken, playing video games, & practicing martial arts seems enough for Kim Woo Bin's character. One day he saves a Martial Arts Officer. He's asked to cover the officer's job while he recovers. His parole officer partner recommends that he becomes an official Martial Arts Officer.
Warning: the crimes depicted in the show are awful & may be triggering.
The fighting is amazing - great choreography. You will *hate* the bad guy. What's unique is that Kim Sung Kyun really brings compassion to the role of the parole officer & the fun-seeking fighter sees things from a fresh perspective.
In less than 2 hours, Kim Woo Bin provides us with wonderful character growth & a great bromance. It was also interesting to see how an unfamiliar area of the S. Korean penal system works.

Ah, I thought that was a lovely story and a topic that I haven't seen covered in other shows. Still, the frustration was enormous.
It's interesting how much I want to return and rewatch #kdrama shows as I gain a greater understanding of the language and culture and learn more about the actors in the series. I loved that both #KimWooBin and his IRL partner #ShinMinA were in this drama. I've since seen more of the actors in other shows and I feel curious to watch them again. -

#KimWooBin is delightful to watch onscreen. This genre is not my favourite but it was interesting to watch the choreography of the fight scenes and imagine how they blocked them out to keep everyone safe!

The Heirs (aka The Inheritors)
(2013 - 20 1:00 eps) REWATCHA classic I 1st watched in early 2023. Knowledge of language & culture made it even better. The episodes flew by as the spoiled illegitimate 2nd son fell for the poor girl & had to fight to love her.
Phenomenal casting of 3 proven leads early in their careers & the supporting actors (see hashtags) who have all had stellar careers. A screenwriter with several other highly-rated dramas (The Glory, The King: EM, Goblin...) The 3 leads & the show won many awards.
It has a lot of wrist grabbing which was common at the time. But the depth that these young actors portrayed is astounding. Lots of character development & we come to understand their pain & the reasons for their actions. Excellent!

(2022 - Viki, 2:22 movie rental)One of the best sci-fi films! Aliens have been using Earth, more precisely, human bodies, as prisons. Unfortunately, some alien criminals have escaped & the guards must hunt them down before they can harm humans.
Time travel, robots, aliens, mages, shamans, shape-shifters, a bounty hunter & a woman with a gun - the kitchen sink of sci-fi & it knows it, so it doesn't take itself too seriously. There are many nods to western sci-fi classics. There's too much action, too many over-the-top scenes, generally too much of everything. It is a thrilling, fine-tuned balance of comedy & action.
Great effects, stellar acting by all, magic, sword fights in silk robes, amazingly choreographed fight scenes & the mystery of the Joseon woman with the gun make this a fabulous watch. Can't wait for Alienoid 2!

(2012 Viki, 16 1:05 eps)Was going to watch "School 2017" for its leads. I liked them in other dramas, but there was a "School 2013" & thought maybe I should watch that first. I was so surprised to see so many familiar faces! It's interesting to read what they are up to now.
Lee Jong Suk & Kim Woo Bin are the leads with a great bromance. There is no romance in this series, but if you are interested in the Korean school system or are a teacher, you will probably empathize with the plights of the students, teachers, & administrators.
It was not a binge, & the pacing felt rushed at the end, but I liked the stories. For a 10 yr old show, it still held up fairly well. I shed a few tears, and felt frustration at the rules and the awful situations some kids ended up in.
