There is a logic to Kemi #Badenoch's purge of wets like #GavinBarwell.

For 2 centuries, #Conservatives aimed to be a national party, a broad church allied against rapid change. It worked brilliantly. At most general elections, they won a plurality of votes, and #FPTP gave them a majority of seats.

Now the #Kemisphere is a rump, with less than ⅙ of the seats. Polls predict ⅕ of votes and 1/10 of seats.

Kemi isn't preparing for power. She is purifying her tiny sect.

Even under Thatcher, the #Conservatives were a broad church. Local parties controlled candidate selection. Many chose cautious moderates.

#WilliamHague ended that. 0POV leadership elections, but centralised selection of candidates.

This zealotry has a ceiling of ~20% support. #Kemisphere is cohesive, but small.
