"Papa don't preach" - Madonna. Still number one, still resolutely sending videos.
"Sun street" - Katrina and the Waves.
A song about the uses and abuses of alcohol, with a video taking the mick out of soap operas, it's almost as easy to sing along with as last year's "Walking on sunshine".
The band had so many near misses in the second half of the 80s - "Is that it?" off current album Waves, "Do you want crying" and "Going down to Liverpool" from last year's eponymous album, "That's the way" and "Rock 'n' roll girl" from Break of Hearts.
We did get to see them again, welcomed back like all-conquering heroes.

40 years ago this week, "Is That It?" by #KatrinaAndTheWaves entered the #Top100 at 87. It peaked at 70 on 10 May 1986. Their second album didn't do as well as their first, but I just learned that they had another album before their breakout. A new dawn has broken, has it not?!
Kimberley Rew wrote the song for the anniversary of a Samaritans branch in Swindon.
"Love shine a light" scored more Euro-points than anyone before! It would have been a number one single, except they couldn't keep up with demand and literally ran out of copies!
Katrina reprises her winning costume on the TOTP stage, just like ABBA did so many years earlier.
