  1. In this blog post, I describe how I detected a potential Ellerman Bomb, and how I implemented an algorithm in #JSolEx to detect these: melix.github.io/blog/2025/05-1

  2. Image in CaH captured at lunch break from my backyards, between clouds and trees. Stack of 10 images selected from a set of 20 (most of them had clouds). Stacked and processed with #JSolEx 3.0.2. The clear disk version is off-band by 1 Å.

  3. A Calcium H image of the sun, shot with an SHG700, a 560mm refractor, stacked and processed using #JSolEx.

Shows one of the longest filaments I have ever seen!

  4. Sun, Helium D3, captured today with my SHG 700, stacked and processed using #JSolEx

  5. A story where I describe how I accidentally discovered that the SHG 700 specs were incorrect: melix.github.io/blog/2025/03-1

Thanks to Minh Nguyen for his support!

  6. Images of today's sun. Captured with a #SolEx and processed with #JSolEx. The Helium image is a stack of 3 images, processed in a single click. #solar

  8. In this blog post I explain how active region detection and labelling works in JSol'Ex. I hope you enjoy!

  9. The sun looks so nice in H-beta ! Captured at noon today using Sol'Ex and processed with #JSolEx

  10. The Sun in H-alpha, lunch break musings.

Captured with Christian Buil's Sol'Ex, processed with #JSolEx

  12. Quick lunch imaging. Today weather is "correct". Still high clouds, so image could be better, but taken in a few minutes :)
    Processed with #JSolEx 2.6.3

  13. A timelapse of today's solar activity in H-alpha (the interval is not constant). That's 132GB of data processed with #JSolEx.

  14. Un petit billet qui explique le processus de développement de #JSolEx à travers l'exemple du traitement d'une image Hélium.

  15. This video shows an animation of the sun, captured during 8 hours yesterday, using a #SolEx and processed with #JSolEx. This video shows the doppler effect (Unfortunately I messed up colors and switched blue with red, but you get it!).

  16. Back to solar business. Between the clouds, not great conditions, but it's been a while ! For french speakers, I will give a talk about #JSolEx, the #SolEx image processor I wrote which gave these images, at #DevoxxFR in April! mobile.devoxx.com/events/devox

  17. First blog post of 2024, describing the stacking and mosaic composition algorithms I implemented in #JSolEx 2.0. #java #solar

    melix.github.io/blog/2024/01-0

  18. Stacking and solar mosaic creation are coming to #JSolEx. I'm looking for beta testers, you'll need to install the 2.0.0 development version.

  19. I worked on image stacking and mosaic composition in #JSolEx during the weekend. While my stacking algorithm gives good results, mosaic composition is significantly harder to implement...

  20. JSol'Ex 1.8.0 is out! You can benefit from deconvolution directly in this software without having to rely on 3rd party processing now!

    Release notes: github.com/melix/astro4j/relea

For french-speaking folks, here's the update video: youtube.com/watch?v=LbLqfpXfdA

  21. I just qdded Richardson-Lucy deconvolution algorithm to #JSolEx, and it makes a big difference in image quality!

  22. Should you want to produce such images, I gave a talk about #JSolEx that you can find at youtube.com/watch?v=j6KMOXhldE

  23. The sun in H-alpha, and ~.5Å off H-alpha.

    Processed with #JSolEx and #Autostakkert3

  24. An animation showing the sun at different wavelengths, from H-alpha to the photosphere (± 25 pixels off center, ~1.5A).

    Processed using #JSolEx
