I recently went on a trip during which I played bluegrass for three days in person with a Jamulus jam group. One person I'd never seen despite playing online with this group weekly for more than four years.

We had a wonderful time....but with only 6 ms of latency instead of 40 we had to work hard to keep from speeding up!

I appreciate so much the Jamulus developers who have allowed me to meet so many talented and enthusiastic musicians over the years.

@rarepublic @FreakyFwoof Hopefully you'll find plenty more music where that came from. I post quite a bit from my #Jamulus sessions, from stuff I do on youtube with others, and just random compositions of my own occasionally.

J'en profite pour remercier les 2 autres personnes qui ont contribué à cela dernièrement, car c'est chouette, motivant, et plus efficace de travailler à plusieurs !

Had a quick test run on Jamulus with my brother. It seems pretty good. Feels a bit cunbersome to have multiple client instances if you have multiple instruments, but I'm looking forward tongicing it a proper go.

I've been playing on Jamulus for several years. Latency can be a problem, but the issue is greatly reduced by wearing over-the-ear headphones so that you don't hear your in-the-room sound, but only the sound returning from the server. It's surprising, but your fingers start to play ahead so that the sound blends in with the other musicians. Musicians in orchestras have to deal with as much as 40ms of latency across the group.

As a result, made some fantastic friends, went to meet them, toured with them around Belgium three years in a row (but not this year) but friends for life as a result. Came up with original material, tons of compositions. It saved me from going absolutely crazy during pandemic. https://jamulus.io

I've made lots of musical friends around North America while playing online using Jamulus and Jamkazam.

There was a small hiccup when Windows 10 support ran out and my MOTU interface driver wouldn't work on Windows 11, but I managed to sign up for the 1-year extended coverage for Windows 10, so I'm back online again!
